Debuff Spells That Work on Purple Names, 2012

Since Turbine kept changing how spells are functioning, some spells used to work now don't, and vice versa... which is causing a great confusion when you try to search the forum seeking for answers:

Some differences:

* Shade said only Cloudkill gives concealment, while MrCow stated otherwise
* MrCow listed Symbol of Pain & Weakness as working, while Shade didn't
* Shade's version was from 2009 and MrCow's was 2011

So would it be possible if we could get a new list for 2012, on which debuff spells work, and which do not?

Some of the problem may be due to Spell Penetration. Since I have multiply high level wizards but each have different spell penetration totals and save totals on some spells will land on one toon but not on the another. So someone can say yes the work or don't work but you need to have more information like what their spell penetration totals are and the spell saving throws are to be more accurate. Since not everyone has the same penetration and saves.

Seriously, listen to Mr. Cow. However, keep in mind that just because some spells "work on purple names" does not mean they will work on THAT purple name. As such, while curse works on purple names, Harry from Shroud has an immunity to curse, for example, and because of his saves it's very difficult to land symbol of pain on him.

Shade only plays barbarians and a nuking sorc. Any info he has on casting debuffs is mostly second-hand. Plus, his list is from 2009.

Mr. Cow plays casters, has a nearly perfect reputation, and his list is from 2011.

Go with Mr. Cow's list.

Nothing has changed on MrCow's list. It's still correct.
