Never, ever take the Mantle off. Simple.
Never, ever take the Mantle off. Simple.
I don't have a zerging problem.
I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.
And while we're at it let's remove thieve's tools. I hate forgetting to buy them and not being able to get traps, actually this only happened to me once, but still. No one should complain because everyone would miss out on the +15%.
given up on remembering the voice on my TR2, not gona happen 90% of the time.
a clicky effect of the XP bonus would be easier for me but probably wouldnt bother with it even then
Ever since I realized how much xp I'm missing out on by not wearing my voice/mantle for optionals, I always wear one of the two - after all, what's actually powerful enough to displace both items while leveling? Even on Wruntjunior, who will put an ioun stone on at level 5 to level 13 (vibrant purple, yummy archmagi at level 5) and then the litany at level 13 to cap will be giving up her cloak slot for a mantle...on my melees who tend to have greensteel or the like in the cloak slot, nothing is important enough in the trinket slot to replace the voice.
Pestilence: Wruntjunior ~ Dragonborn Fire Sorc (finished completionist project) // Wruntarrow ~ HW Archer // Youngwrunt ~ SWF SDK Bardbarian // Wruntstaff ~ Stick Melee (current tr project)
Please remove clickies.. and just give me all the abilities so I don't have to remember to switch
TOD boots as above
FF items as above
Stats + 6 items as above
The advantage for either keeping it equipped or switching is 5% XP, too hard then go without.
Toastermage asks: Brown or white?
This.
Its another "I cant be bothered to_____________" thread. Fill in the blank of what we cant be bothered to do this week. Then to top it off because one person cant be bothered to click a hot bar once, everyone in the game who remembers to do it should be penalized for it?
What item is so awesome that you have to swap the mantle out for it through levels 1-19? Nothing with attributes you cant get in another slot.
I honestly can't tell if you are serious or not.....really. No offence.
I've got multiple TR's myself....and I for one do not want to give up the xp bonus' from my cloak/voice at all. Multiple lives can take long enough as it is to get to end-game or the levels in which I like to run quests (at the minimum) and don't think that the dev's should blow time to figure out how to change something that's been in this game for years.

I appriciate the constructive feedback some people has come up with.
Suggesting to remove the item wasnt really what i suggested (it might have come out that way though). What i ment to suggest was removing the 5% xp bonus on the item. This could be replaced with some other effect that made the item more viable to use during a quest as opposed to just at the end.
In addition one could follow up on some of those excellent suggestions mentioned in this thread - make the bonus independent of actually wearing an item. This could be in the form of a clickie (lasts the entire quest), a once in a life boost u get for completing deleras, or a permanent boost for completing deleras. The idea about adding a bonus much like the ship boost to the memorial shrine could also work (this should however last atleast until death - no timer)
Many of you dont see this as a problem - which is fine. Some of the replies indicate however that they arent negative to the suggestion.
5% dosnt sound like a lot (especially to people that dont TR much) - but given the mechanics in game that bonus can often be equal to what u get with the new xp tomes. 200k xp are many hours of questing.
Some replies however try to make a mockery of my idea by comparing it to removing other items. What theese posters seem to not understand however is the major diffirence between items you use during the quest that actually increases your chance of completing the quest and an item you would most likely only use at the very end which does not contribute to any stats or abilities of the character. I am sure it would not be very popular if they introduced the +1 sceptre of epic tokens that u had to use every time an epic chest was opened.
I can understand that some people find it challenging and rewarding to push that 5% xp button at the end of every quest - i seem to be in the minority however.
Some of the replies are, even though they try to be sarcastic, on to something. Like thieves tools - ofc this should not be removed, but what about introducing rare items that work as permanent items? Recently they made you able to buy omnidust from the store. Was a bit disappointed that they did not make it a permanent item - would save a lot of backpack space. The same could be done to ranged fighting - making rare 100% returning arrows or bolts that had some nice stats. This would definately boost ranged combat too - a much needed boost.
This is just a small change - but a lot of small changes can make this game we all love so much better. Im not making this post to get flamed or rediculed - i am making it so the devs can get some ideas to either implement or discard based on the development time they have.
If the community keeps flaming or ridiculing ideas they find "bad", noone would bother posting their ideas in the end because they are afraid they will get just the reaction i got now. I talked to many guildies - which are all veteran players (most played since the very start), and they stay far away from the forums for this very reason. I am sure the quality of the advice and the suggestions given on theese forums would increase a lot if people with experience used the forums to a larger degree.
Please obstain from posting replies unless they add constructive critisism or an ide to further refine on ideas allready posted in this thread.
Thanks for your constructive responce. And i appriciate that even though you disagree you take a sivil tone. Thats how debates are supposed to be.
Yes i am serious, and yes i do know this change is quite minor. What we do not know however is how development time such a change would take. Its up to the devs to decide if a change warrants the time it takes to code. The fact that "it has bin in the game for years" on the contrary makes it a prime candidate for some change. The 5% boost was allmost laughable when it first came out, as you just stayed at cap anyway, and getting there was very easy. Now its a must have for any serious TR, and that allmost every character (that pays for the deleras chain) can get.
This game has changed a lot during the years, and its going to change even more in the future. Just because something worked in the past dont neceserrily mean it works now. Im guessing even the 1d20 is up for revision as the devs are currently working on rebalancing AC.
As you mentioned this is a minor change and using dev time on it should not be a priority. I totally agree - if the dev time used is somehow dispropriate to the somewhat minor benefits this would give to some people.
TBH I think the opposite should happen and we should get items with bad effects but a +xp buff. So for example if you wore a necklace of -2 spell DCs and -2 to hit for an entire quest you'd get +10% xp, and maybe similar items for a % boost to named items dropping in quests/raids.
It'd be hard to get the effect balance right, but if you throw enough different items out there and let them stack it might be achievable. The benefit of doing this is it'd not only lower the power discrepancy between newer players and vets but it would also remove some of the issues Turbine has trying to balance quests for both sets of players.

I need ~4.4 million XP to level. That's 220,000 more xp I'd need every life. It might sound trivial to you but it's a big time saver for me.
Just put your voice on, it's one click.
Thanks for your responce. Yes i agree, and i can see how i was too categorical in the OP. Removing it was a bad idea, but suggestions made by other posters to somehow replace the boost is a much better one.
Yes its one click - but during a TR it can be several hundred.
Would be fun as an experiment if they placed a new quest in the harbour where one had to pull a lever inside a room, and you got 100xp every time you pulled it. Wonder how many would choose that over doing other quests.

I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just gonna ask 'em where they're going and hook up with 'em later on - Mitch Hedberg

It is YOUR problem.
Disappointed and without trust in the powers that be.

Congrats
Working towards that goal myself, but kind of hard with all the wagro i get ....
No big deal - just one of many small changes that would improve the game. I didnt know the suggestions forum was for discussing big problems only.
Just cant shake the fealing its one of those small things that kind of annoys me. Its more about the principle - rewarding the wrong thing. They should reward skill and comittment, not remembering a button push.
Feels like having to remember to put money on the metre every time you park the car - it adds no enjoyment and its irritating if you forget it.
