Default Getting Soul Vessels is harder than getting the raid items

You can spend hours in the Feywild and not pick up any Soul Vessel even when specifically looking for it.

Firstly, it's a good idea that you can farm any chest for Soul Vessels including explorer chests. It's a reason to run the explorer and open optionals chests.

However, you can do a whole saga on EE or Reaper and not see one. Which begs the question, why isn't the Soul Vessel on the saga reward list?

Or why not give a use for the Legendary Chunk of Ferrocrystal beyond common weapons? Turn in say 50 to 100 for 1 Soul Vessel - not something you specifically farm for, but eventually you get enough just from opening chests.

The current implementation goes against the whole "we want to reduce the grind" mentality you keep saying, to the point where it's probably easier getting the raid items rather than the Soul Vessels simply due to the fact that you can eventually buy your raid items (3750 runes for a set obviously isn't a grind either).

Doing rares in the explorer zone is apparently the best way to get Soul Vessels. A guy who was farming for Feytwisted chests there told me that he got several of them in the process. So far I've pulled one soul vessel, which was enough to make the only item I've gotten so far from raiding for an aug (a litany)

I agree they are a little too rare. I have 201 ferrocrystals and those dont even always drop so thats a lot of chances, and Ive pulled 1 vessel. Gotten 3 passed to me for a total of 4.
I would like to see some other way to aquire these, please. I dont usually mind a grind but this particular random drop is a little discouraging.

Yes. A Ferrocrystal turn-in for Vessels would be nice. (even if it also cost a few Threads)

    Thumbs down

    Hi,
Together with a friend, we were runt the entire saga on r4 with all optional chests (except for the curious door in immortality). We rerolled chests with named items and done some rares in the wilderness. As a result, we got named items from almost each of the quests, a few artefacts and several named augments, but ZERO vessels.
Four hours, hundreds of astral shards and nothing.
    Is it works as intended?

For me, farming Feywild rares seems to be the most efficient way of getting Vessels. From my experience the drop rate is 1 Vessel in about 25-30 feywild rare chests. In each "rare run" I typically get about 3-4 chests. So, I need like 7 runs to get one vessel. I do a few runs every day with my 3 toons but mostly to get named weapons as food for sentience. But that way I get enough soul vessels, too.
(The numbers are not measured exactly, but a guild member reported similar drop chances)

Given 12 rare encounters and a chest ransack mechanic, a lucky and persistent person can get four vessels out of the wilderness per week.
To me, that just proves the thread subject.

Yes, it is...because I still can't buy Feywild.

Sharn released May 14, 2019, and in DDO Store September 19, 2019. 128 days.

Feywild released November 5, 2020. 175 days from then until today and still not available.

It's like they don't want my money. Well, I'm not buying any more DDO points until after I spend the big chunk I have on Fey. If they want that to be later or never, so be it.
