    Default YA10kSAA - Yet Another 10k Stars Arcane Archer

    This build split is a deliberate rip-off from w_o_w_o.

    The aim of this thread is twofold:
    • Are there any suggestions on the leveling order, skills, and stat spread? Also, is Improved Sunder a reasonable feat choice? (This is the reason why I take PA in the first place. Other suggestions for the level 15 and level 18 feat would be nice as well.)
    • Which kind of items should I get before TRing her? In particular, where should I slot the GS HP? Cloak Slot?

    I deliberately chose the route of no traps. You could also raise Int, dump Spot and juggle around to get search and disable device to a reasonable level.
    Possible due to the version of the planner I was using, Artificer Energy of Creation did not qualifiy for Elven AA. Please read the level 18 feat as Improved Sunder.

    Edit. After a conversation with Shataan (a 10k Stars Kensai Archer player, whose opinion I value very much), I decided to do a build which is a bit more experimental. Essentially, I give up 4 feats which wouldn't help me much because I don't melee much anyway (PA, SF, IS, Quickdraw), and take a bunch of toughnesses, allowing me to direct some build points from Con to Int.
    The ranks of the skills at cap are: 23 UMD, 23 Disable Device, 22 Search, 22 Spot, 22 Concentration.

    12 Con isn't as bad as it looks, as this build has actually more HP than the no-trap version above:

    I like the third level progression. Once you get 10k stars you can start on a close to 3/4 time ranged style which should minimise missing out on GTWF. IPS would seem less valuable than 10k stars.

    I'm not sure I'd want to drop SF. So easy to have a 50+ stunning fist DC depending on gear and wisdom which gives you a really nice option to swap to handwraps and stun a mob that has aggroed on you rather than kiting it (like a tool) or - in the case of epics - possibly dying.

    For GF HP I'm planning on the Belt slot for my MinII, cloak is too nice for Wretched Twilight as a source of sneak attack (or to swap to Epic Envenomed for tanking).

    This is my full planned layout:

    This is only a "first slot" layout, I already have multiple epic items per slot for the character and I'm quite accustomed to swapping gear around for the situation (particularly for AC tanking as an example).

    Edit: Drop dex to 12 and increase con to 14 for -1 reflex save but +20 HP.

    5 Toughness feats are certainly a lot, and I guess you could easily drop one for a different feat, such as SF. The breakdown in the OP shows we have plenty.

    The wind2 will work... you can qualify for monk stance enhancements based on inherent boosts from Tomes.

    However, the Rogue Dilly would not be selectable without at least 13 base dex. +1 tomes don't affect you until level 3 and Dille is required to be taken at level 1.

    I have been told that you can swap it in after eating a +1 tome but haven't tried it. If you have a spare +1 tome you can easily test this with a veteran character.

    I would have to test it as well, however I know this one fact to be true about feat swap:

    You cannot swap a feat later in level for one you took earlier if you do not qualify for the feat at that original level. The stats that you have at the time you swap is irrelevant... what matters is your stats for the level that the feat was selected. Since a tome doesn't apply at level 1 I still believe you wouldn't qualify for Rogue Dille.

    I understood it to work this way as well. However, I've heard consistently that it doesn't apply to dilettante feat.

    I have a spare +1 tome, but I am out of character slots on my main server. Maybe someone else can do it?

    I realised that my half-elf rogue started with 12 intelligence and ate a +2 int tome. Here are the results:



    Now, I'm not going to actually try to swap the feat ... but it seems to work.

    Using the XP stone, as well as the +35% xp boost, I decided to TR my pure Ranger with the least possible effort. I came up with the following, which will use Crossbows from 1 to 7, and bows starting at 15 (having 16 banked).

    Any comments?
