    Default TR Tome usage.

Now that tomes carry over into your next life when you TR, how are the increased stats applied?

If you have eaten a +1 Tome, is it applied at level 3 on each subsequent life, or at level 1?

If you have eaten a +2 Tome, is it applied at level 7 on each subsequent life, or at level 1?

I know how its handled when you LR or GR.....but have not TR'ed yet since U13 and am asking those who have done so.

I am guessing the same applies to TR, but am looking for confirmation.

    +1: level 3
    +2: level 7
    +3: level 11
    +4: level 15

Note that stuff like +int WILL give you extra skill points if it causes you to have a higher 'natural' modifier. (let's say you have 13 starting int, and ate a +3 int tome, when you hit level 3, you get +1 int which puts it at a 14 natural, this gets extra skill point at level 3 already. Normally you could only eat the tome after you leveled, which would be 1 less skill point.)

It's also because of this that those lucky sons-of-guns who have +4 dex tomes can qualify for and take improved and greater two weapon fighting as their last 2 character feats, as the tome applies before feat selection. Assuming 13 starting dex.

At the appropriate lvl, it doesnt matter when you ate the tome in the previous life.

As Porq alluded to, it actually comes in a bit earlier in the process than if you had eaten the tome on the active life. We'll use Int as an example, because it's pretty much appropriate for all TR's. If you had eaten a +2 int tome, you get the +1 at level 3. This happens immediately upon taking level 3, which means it's before you take your feats and before you do your skills. If you're a fighter and started with 12 intelligence, you can take Combat Expertise at level 3 because the +1 applied already. On a first life toon, you'd have to wait till your next feat to pick up CE, because you can't eat the tome during leveling like that. Also, once that fighter hits level 7, he will have an extra skill point at 7 because his int is now 14. It's not a huge thing, but really nice to pick up an extra skill point or two over the course of a TR.

    Question bought or found tomes?

Does bonus' from tomes you have bought in the Turbine shop and tome you have found questing both carry over to the next life? Or is only the bonus from bought tomes?

    Tomes are always applied as:

    +1: level 3
    +2: level 7
    +3: level 11
    +4: level 15

as mentioned earlier in this thread, regardless of how the tome was acquired or when the tome was eaten/read on previous lives.

The highest tome bonus is always the one that counts, and it does not stack with lower bonus tomes. So if you use a +1 tome and a +2 tome, your overall modifier is +2, not +3.

You do not have eat a tome of each tier to receive each lower tier's benefits. For example, if I didn't use a +1 or +2 tome ever, but I used a +3 tome, then tr'd, I would still get the +1 at lvl 3, the +2 at lvl 7, and then the +3 at lvl 11.

Wish I would have known this earlier...not that big of a deal, but did deny my twinks some tomes because I read the lesser tomes (+1 and +2) thinking they were needed to trigger (at lvl 3 and 7 respectively) after tr. "I've written my own part, Eat of the apple [tome] so young, I'm crawling back to start" ~Alice in Chains With that said, I am glad it works this way...seems simpler.
