Default So have i COMPLETELY ruined my lit2,

    Or just partially?

To keep this as short as I can, I was making (Well, attempting. failed miserably) my first lit2 GS weapon- and got to the end only to realize i ef'ed my self over good. Proper-good. I made my first large-shard at the alter of devastation, attached it to my weapon, made my second large shard and.. well. Didnt attach it to my weapon.

I was under the impression I was to keep doing as I had been before- Make the shard, put it on, make the next level shard, put it on, etc. I was under the impression to make a small shard (used holy here), put it on, make a medium (lightning), put it on, make the 1st large (shock blast for me), put it on, make the second "lit 2" shard, and put it on- Voila Lit2. Obviously this failed, hard. Using the required ingredients, i made 2 large shards- The first being the "shock blast" shard, and the second i ASSUMED being the "lit 2 shard". I didnt know i was to take the essences i used to make the second shard, to "double imbue" my first large shock blast shard.

SO MY QUESTION is am i totally screwed here? Can I take this blasphemous shard, and double-imbue it with the essences of the FIRST "shock blast" shard (i know ill have to remake these essences as what i have currently made is trash)? Or is this shard Ive made totally garbage?

well, the shard isn't *totally* garbage. you can use it to make a different weapon, still, by combining it with a different air shard.

but yeah, your lit II is not going to be fixable, unless possibly they introduce greensteel deconstruction. the shards need to be combined with each other, *then* the resulting individual shard can be placed into the altar with the weapon.

of course, your weapon isn't *completely* horrible either. it isn't as good as it could be, but it isn't a total abomination or anything. it's still a halfway decent DPS weapon that is probably superior to most other things you're going to find (i'm guessing holy, shocking burst, and shocking blast is what you have, which is pretty decent... just not as good as it could be). i mean, if you've got some sort of amazing general-purpose weapon of doom just sitting around, you probably won't want to use the one you just made. most likely though, the one you just made is *still* better than average... just not as good as you might wish.

Jya ill still use the weapon for now- I just mean can I use this left-over shard to start making another ACTUAL lit-2 weapon? Ive no doubt it can be used for "something else", but i want to use it for that specifically.

If you made the shard correctly you just need to make sure that you make the other shard. It will combine just fine. I know it does not make it better, but I know a lot of people who have messed up their -supposed to be- double shard items the same way. I personally prefer to craft on an airship with a cup of coffee an a print out of my recipe instead of right after running a Shroud. Good luck on your next one.

Wait a second. Are you saying that in order to forge a lit2... or any Greensteel up to supreme, only 1 Supreme shard is needed? If so this will save me a lot of grinding for a second shard!

Edit: I had to reread the Greensteel planner on perfectweb and I'm trying to figure out what you did vs. what the instructions call for. Did you triple imbue and miss out on the "On-hit 2% chance, 580~650 electricity damage"? I just want to make sure I don't repeat your mistake.

No, OP did not combine the shards to make a double imbued shard. It is probably the most common mistake in attempting a double shard item.

if you are crafting green steel and are unfamiliar with the steps, download the ddo game guide. By far it is the best planner available.

It is easy to use, and better still it provides step by step recipe crafting instructions.

you can get the download here --> http://forums.ddo.com/showpost.php?p...02&postcount=1

The good news is that the devs are working on both greensteel deconstruction and changing the greensteel creation process to work with the barter UI, which should make things far more intuitive and much less likely to get screwed up.

The bad news is that there is no estimated release date, or even window, for any of this.

To make a shard you combine 4 ingredient and a power-cell, doing so gives you a type of essence. It takes 3 specific essences to make a specific shard. You only TECHNICALLY need 1 large shard- However to make a "supreme" GS item, it takesa "double imbued" shard. This uses SIX total essences, not 3. To make it you make the FIRST large shard, then make the 3 other essences, and combine them WITH the original large-shard, to make a double imbued large shard.

I used the first 3 large essences to make 1 large shard, and the second 3 essences to make a SEPERATE large shard, instead of combining them ONTO the first original shard. Again I was under the impression you just "added the second large shard" to the GS item (as you had done with the small and medium) to upgrade it to a supreme, and had no clue i was supposed to "double imbue" the original supreme shard.

Such a stupid let down on my own part. Its taken me months to acquire the materials to do just this one Im not a very rich character and only have a single capped char.

The good news is you have a goodblast shard right now. You're halfway to a new litII (Assuming small and medium ingredients aren't a problem... which they usually aren't). However, if you are feeling impatient, or simply don't want to deal with getting all those large ingredients again, you should know that you are holding onto teir3 of a Triple Positive. You don't need a single large ingredient more! Triple Positives are pretty awesome all-around weapons, and fantastic undead beaters

    He means something like this:

    http://perfectweb.org/ddo/crafting/b...nus2=27&altC=0

Been thinking of making that one on my fighter when I finish my LitII Falchion.

    You're only mostly screwed.

The not-LitII weapon that you currently have isn't completely terrible. It just doesn't have the Lightning Strike effect. That's not nearly as good as a real LitII, but it's not complete trash and you can still swing it until you have something better.

The shard that you have can be used for your second Greensteel weapon. You just need to make a new Greensteel blank, make your 1st and 2nd tier shards just like you did before and then make sure you combine the tier 3 shard that you have with the new second tier 3 shard that you'll make before you put it on your weapon.

Don't throw away your not-LitII weapon even after you replace it with a real LitII. Just toss it in the bank and you'll be able to get some ingredients back out of it eventually when deconstruction is added.

not quite. you make both shards separately. then you put the two shards in the machine, without the weapon (iirc a power cell is required, however). you combine the two shards with each other. *then* you put the combined shard into the machine with your weapon.

you did everything right, including the part where you made the second shard from the essences) up until the part where you were supposed to put your two shards into the machine together and combine them into one shard.

that shard can still be used to make a later lit II weapon, you just have to make the first shard, and combine the two together.

The lighting strike on the blasted thing procs so fricking rarely that he's not missing much. I see maybe one or two lighting strikes from mine per boss fight. That's about 1k damage spread out over 200 swings, so, 20 extra per swing. Maybe an increase of like 5 dps. The strike is nice, but it's over rated.

@ TC: You're fine with your current weapon. Save that shard for your next Lit 2. Always read the green steel planner three times before you make anything! Saves you pain.

if it is in fact 20 extra per swing, that's far more than 5 DPS unless you're doing something rather odd. pretty sure even THF gets more than 1 attack per second. that said, iirc it's generally estimated at +12 damage per hit. on a TWF that's close to 24 DPS, as i recall. more to the point, you would need to boost your strength by 24 points to get that much added damage (provided you were already hitting on a 2, etc). if there was a weapon that boosted your strength by 24 points, and it stacked with everything else, how many people do you think would be trying to get their hands on that weapon?

keep in mind that people go absolutely bonkers over a +4 bonus to damage per hit that stacks. +12 is not a small thing.

I personally use this planner. Never had an issue with GS, user-friendly and with clear instructions:

    Use this one:
    http://www.iro.umontreal.ca/~delallea/ddo/shroud/

Here you can see what effects need a single shard to make (like a triple positive weapon) and what effects need a double shard to make.

It's actually works out to 9.15 damage per swing. We finally got an official answer on proc rate and damage a couple months ago so no more estimating needed.
