    Default Needs some input

I'm still a bit new to DDO (my highest level char is lvl 7) and I was thinking about making a mage. I've watched the Ghoste builds so I took a lil inspiration from him. I plotted this build out with charming and necro in mind but I'm not entirely sure how it would play out.

As odd as this sounds, and taking a quick glance, drop dex to 8 or 10 and put a few points into str to prevent Ray of Enfeeble issues (also Master's Touch+Great Axe+def. buffs is easiest for first 5 levels or so). Take Insightful Reflexes earlier and Greater Spell Focus: Enchantment a little later. Enlarge Spell (Greater Spell Pen. might be better) is questionable but again, I just took a quick look.

EDIT: And jeez by all that's good and right in Eberron keep your UMD maxed!

Not much sense in putting points into Dex, especially if you are doing this for the reflex saves since you are taking Insightful Reflexes anyway. IMO best bet for a wiz is still max Intelligence and max (or 2 points from max) Constitution.

For your feat selection, try this:
    Toughness
    [WB] Empower
    Mental Toughness
[WB] Spell Focus: Necromancy or Enchantment
    Insightful Reflexes
----------take your first tier of PrE----------------
    Extend Spell
[WB] Spell Focus: Necromancy or Enchantment (whichever one you didn't take earlier)
Greater Spell Focus: Necromancy or Enchantment (whichever one you didn't take earlier)
----------take your second tier of PrE----------------
    [WB] Greater Spell Focus: Enchantment
    Heighten
    Maximize
----------take your third tier of PrE----------------
    [WB] Quicken Spell
At level 20 -- swap out 2 of the following for Spell Penetration and Greater Spell Penetration: Extend, Toughness (if you can have ~320 HP unbuffed without this feat), Insightful Reflexes (whatever you can't instakill or CC is the rogue's job).

Early on, you will want to build on capacity (instead of DC). Monsters in low levels have **** saves and it will be faster to kill them than to CC them anyway. Also, take empower and maximize -- you don't want to be half-useless when it comes to raid bosses.

For skills, max out Concentration, Balance, and UMD. Then put the rest into Heal.... Just kidding. The skills Heal and Repair are only useful when you use heal/repair kits to revive incapacitated allies, or if you wish to use rest shrines to restore HP instead of casting self-reconstructs. Usually these are among the most senseless skills to put points into.

For enhancementsp, you probably won't want to use vampire/wraith form when you have access to lich form. Also, take full damage and crit lines on at least one element (I suggest water since end-game are studded with fire-immune mobs). These Improved Enlarge/Heightening/Quickening should be among the last of your priorities since they are kinda expensive and IMO has a marginal effect compared to the other enhancements you can obtain. Same with Improved Concentration II.

    Cheers.

My phone wont let me scroll your build so Im going to make some assumptions from what you said:

1 ghostes shadowmage thread explains the dex, if you want to be king of stealth follow his advice, otherwise the points in dex are better spent elsewhere.

2 lich and vampire both require toughness, please ignore people telling you not to take them.

3 If you are going for stealth ability, make sure to fit in mental toughness which is required for wraith form. (Again I cant scroll your build right now to check your feats)

Thanks for the help! like Havok said I'll still be using wraith form even after getting lich for stealth situations. I'll drop the extend to swap out for empower so I can do some more raw damage without making the mobs my minions and drop the greater enchantment for maximize till DC becomes important. Figured elite mobs would be harder to enchant at level so that's sorta why I went for it XD but for the insightful reflexes don't the saves for half damage help at higher content? I know I won't have evasion so I won't be able to dodge it all but it seems like it'd be helpful to add a lil extra survivability to a potentially squishy mage.
