Default Questions about 18/2 pal monk/rogue

Hi. I was going to start TRing one of my characters today and decided to get paladin out of the way first. I read about several builds, but the one thing I noticed is that there were no THF /2 monk builds, is this because using a 2h will break the things I get for splashing monk? I am not rich so I would prefer to build a THF build so that I do not have to buy khopeshes. Do I need to splash rogue for this instead of monk?

Monk 2 splashes are usually taken for the extra feats, Evasion, and often times the WIS AC bonus. Reflex saves & AC both benefit from higher DEX, of course, and GTWF w/khopeshes is pretty much always higher DPS than GTHF (unless we're talking eSOS, in which case the DPS numbers get murkier to me).

That said, a THF monk 2 / pally 18 has a couple of advantages over TWF, namely reducing DEX gives more pts for STR, CHA, and/or CON and CHA bonus to all saves makes up for the lower base DEX. So while it might not be considered ideal, I think it should be fine, especially if you're just shooting for a pally past life.

Depends what you want. If you want Monk for Evasion, Two Feats, and some nice base saves that's fine, you'll just have to get used to the 'You're not Centered!' icon always being in the corner of your screen while you run around with a big Two-Handed weapon and Light Armor.

However, MOST people that splash Monk want to retain those other Monk benefits...like Wis-to-AC and being in a stance...but you don't have to.

I had a Paladin back in the day I wanted Evasion on and I preferred the 2 Monk levels to 2 Rogue levels since Paladins and their crappy skill points make the access to Rogue skills somewhat moot (it's doable if you really work at it).

You could try using a Quarterstaff for a THF build. That would keep you centered, thus allowing you to use stances and Jidz-Tetka.

Staves are a pretty poor DPS choice for a paladin; their special attacks like Exalted Smite & Divine Sacrifice really benefit weapons with a wider crit range. +25% heal amp is nice, but I'm not sure it's that nice.

    This.

Scimitar/Rapier/Falchion are win weapons for the Paladin on a budget. Especially if you have some racial bonuses in there

Avoid QStaff like the plague on a Paladin.
