    Default Make Challenges Challenging

When I heard about challenges and mini-games, in my mind, I thought it would be puzzles, like the Abbot... not just timed quests.

I would love to see more challenges that actually challenged you to do something other than kill stuff. The Abbot puzzles are a great starting point- you have the arcade action of the asteroids, coordination of players in ice and goggles. The Monastery/Shroud light puzzles. The Crucible swim. The Pit jumping pipes. Prove your worth with the alternating ladders comes to mind as well.

I'd love to see more things that challenged player skills instead of just moar dps. They could also be great training.

These wouldn't have to be level based since player skill and not player gear would be key in completing them.

    Just a thought.

They can be a huuge nuisence if you dont have a good party or if youre going solo and things dont go as you like them.... They ARE challenges lol. Trust me. Timers, keeping things alive, clearing rooms in certain ways...

Right, but the existing challenges are all about killing stuff. I guess my title is not very good because people respond to it without reading the post. Make new challenges player skill based might have been a better title.

I'd love to see challenges like jumping the Pit pipes... while moving... before time runs out.

What's that show on TV? Wipeout? Obstacle courses with lots of moving parts.

I think that would be a lot of fun.

This is not Mario. A LOT of people hate the Pit because of those reasons. Not only that but some people don't have the best computers or the best internet connections to properly time stuff like that.

I agree. Would like to see a challenge or set of challenges based more around some brain-using puzzle solving that eschews combat. Will be interesting to see whether the new expansion related challenges bring any such new variety...

Right, but as with anything, you don't have to do anything. If the goal were to only add things to the game that everyone loves, it would be impossible.

I think if people had a way to practice them they might enjoy it. Especially since if you were a better swimmer/jumper/timer-dodger you could flag more easily for those things where they are required.

    Just a thought.

I agree, I probably wouldn't run said challenges and I hate the Pit but can definately see other people enjoying this.

Actually, the existing challenges aren't all about killing stuff. Sure, you should kill stuff quickly in order to be more successful in the challenges, but mostly the challenges are about managing your resources/time/effort in a race against the clock. I *hate* the clock mechanism, by the way, and so I would love to see another sort of challenge -- perhaps even ones that more clearly involve only combat (clear out each wave/group on your way to the goal, with additional/random bosses). However, as someone who doesn't have a great deal of "player skill" (i.e., I'm no Mario), I don't think I would support the idea of going too far in the direction of Pit-like jumping challenges.
