Sad to see Brigand's Cutlass is now less useful

Since they changed how some weapons didn't have an alignment check,
I guess this is a side effect.

Ah well, it used to be a fun weapon on my fighter alt which I barely used.
Mortal strike was fun, guess I'll trash them when I need the bankspace now.

Strangely True Chaos has a chaotic requirement and umd check of 20,
while Absolute Chaos is neutral and has no check.

that sounds rather like a bug...did you report it? I could see it not having a check, but I'm sure if it was working correctly, it would be chaotic-only.
