Default Lava Caves: Needs a Fix

Just getting back to the Kobold pathing issue, I've noticed that if you set up a teleporter anywhere in the bottom middle, near the lava, the Kobolds will ALWAYS walk back to base, rather than take a nearby teleporter. This leads to the complete destruction of my workforce and failure of the challenge every time, as they walk an uncleared route back to base, activating dozens of trash mobs and leading them all to the Foreman. How can a fundamentally broken thing like this, still be in the game several updates later?

Just to clarify, I have no trouble completing these challenges in a group or solo, I don't need to be advised to choose another path. That's all obvious, this is a complaint to Turbine about bad coding. Please get this fixed, I really want to just play the challenges as they were intended, not metagame the bugs and AI.

I've been having this happen a lot when I take the bottom middle path. I think it might have something to do with horizontal distance being used to calculate 'near' and 'far', without taking into consideration the different vertical levels of the caves. I think the Foreman or whatever waypoint the Kobolds use is closer than the teleporter. I can't think of any other reason.

I was just lamenting this today as it's the daily challenge currently.

I also think it is a Z axis issue...which is unfortunate because the first drop near the nexus can often be a choice area for finding purples near circles of power.

I dont see this issue, because I place the teleporter near the first crystals that will be encountered and move it frequently as crystals are collected. Buy 2 right off the bat so you have one to put into the circle and one to put near the first set of crystals which is the one that gets moved frequently.

Im not saying this is justification for not fixing a bug, but this might help you farm mats while you wait for a fix. Unfortunately metagaming the bugs and AI is what we have to do until bugs get fixed, or wait to farm challenge loot.

I didn't notice this thread before, and am surprised by it. I have never had a problem with kobolds wandering off on the occasions when I end up under the bridge. I do not frequently set up any torches next to the teleporter, but even in those cases I didn't see the described behavior.

I've had this happen enough times that I no longer move the kobolds under the bridge until I've used up all other available routes.

I'd swear it's the lava causing the issue. The second a kobold crosses thru lava to another "land mass" it seems to go stupid and want to walk from the bottom all the way to the top.

It's annoying but it's only sometimes fatal if you are a caster with DDoor. Without DDoor tho it would be a chronic failure scenario. It's also usually ok as long as the teleporter is along the only /obvious path back up. If I have a partner it's the 2nd place I look after lower bridge, if I am solo it's the 4th place I look since you have to babysit.
