    Default $14.95 forced subscription for expansion?

    So I bought the preorder. . . applied the preorder to my account and got the fallowing message?


    "This subscription will automatically renew at US $14.99 per month plus any applicable taxes. Recurring subscription fee and any applicable taxes will be charged against your credit card monthly in advance after the free period. All subscription payments are non-refundable."

    Is there something I missed in the fine print?

    Can someone from DDO respond?

    I also had this problem except mine renews every three months at $41 and some change.

    I think there was something in the FAQs telling you how to avoid this happening.

    From the pre-purchase F.A.Q

    I’ve entered the product key for the expansion upgrade and it asks for billing information and to choose a subscription. Isn’t DDO free to play? Am I going to be billed for a new VIP subscription if I upgrade?

    Dungeons and Dragons Online is free to play. If you upgrade your account and have an existing VIP subscription, you will not be billed until the end of your current subscription period with whatever subscription plan you chose when upgrading. If you do not want to have a reoccurring VIP subscription, you can choose the payment type “Game Card Or Other Payment Methods”, and click the box that says “I don't have one right now, I will enter one later”. This will prevent your account from being billed for a subscription payment, or if you are currently active as a VIP it will prevent your subscription from automatically billing unless you chose to reactivate it later.

    I can tell you that I had the FAQs up as I went through the process because I had heard of this problem. However, the screens that I got did not match the instructions contained in the FAQs.

    I was excited about the expansion; however, my experience so far has been negative. I am sure Turbine will resolve the subscription issue; however, my main did not get any of the bonus stuff that I was promised. Hopefully that will get resolved and I am not simply s.o.l.

    I agree F.A.Q. is worthless.

    Where is my stuff!
