Default Read, and believe, the LFM

If the LFM says the quest is normal or hard, don't send a tell to the poster asking if it is elite. If you join a party whose LFM says normal or hard, don't ask the leader if it is elite. If you see an LFM posted for normal or hard difficutly, don't send a tell to the poster ordering them to change it to elite.

Unfortunately, too many tards DO put up LFMs with specified difficulty settings, then run it on an entirely different setting. Or they dont specify it (IE, its set to normal) and they run it on elite. Ergo, unless it is also stated in the notes what dif, I always check to make sure, unless I just dont care about the dif on that quest.

Its not the fault of the people requesting to join LFMs. Its the fault of the lazy and/or moronic and/or easily pressured people putting up the LFMs.

If you see a dif on *MY* LFM, it *IS* that dif. Unfortunately, people who dont know me dont know that, so I get the same tells

Was it typed in or just expected to be read from box 2?

Also friendly suggestions/discussions are always welcome in my groups.

Its often tough call on quest difficulty. On one hand a harder difficulty can slow the quest down, increase chance of a wipe and more resources will be used. On the other hand a harder difficulty can attract a higher caliber of player and the challenge and loot can be more rewarding.

I am usually flexible on my quest difficulty. I try to judge what the party is capable of after the group is formed, I try to take into account people's needs (BB/favour/loot) and if I'm not sure then I'll either ask for clarifying information on people's capabilities or go with my gut (which can get me into trouble but that can be fun too).

A harder dif can also attract skeez looking to mooch off the group for a favor completion. It can also attract overblown morons who have convinced themselves they are MUCh better than they actually are, and are in fact not even remotely ready for anything above casual.

My rule of thumb is to restrict to no higher than Hard on an at-lvl quest with an unknown group, and THEN go back in on elite if it turned out to be a cakewalk. Unless it is a quest that I know I have all the critical roles covered myself, and know from past experience I can run it on elite solo, with scaling, and 5 rocks in my pack

It was typed in, as well as being readable from the box.

At the same time, if you're the leader and you're going to change things up from what the LFM advertised - let those who have already joined know about it.

I had a situation the other day where I put up an LFM for a certain quest on Elite for Favor (I had outleveled the quest by 5 or so). After a few minutes, I get a tell from another player saying 'Hey, we're about to start this same quest on Elite. You're welcome to join us if you don't want to wait for your own LFM to fill."

So, being a friendly sort of chap, I do just that.

Unfortunately, the leader had to drop group for personal reasons and when I arrive the quest is IP on Hard. Oh well, I haven't done it on Hard yet, so I'll still get a little favor. No biggie. But then, we're about halfway through the quest when one of the others pipes up "Hey, why does it say I'm not getting any experience for this?"

    ... Uh oh.

Unbeknownst to me, the original LFM had been restricted to at (or near) level only and advertised "for Experience." Needless to say, I felt like a complete jerk because it was MY presence that caused all of these people to lose the XP that they were running the quest for.

TL;DR - People join your group with the expectation that your LFM is accurate. Don't bait n' switch them by changing quests, difficulties, or inviting members that don't fit the advertised level parameters.

The flip side is to make sure the LFM is correct. Saw a LFM up for Tear the other day, comments said elite. Joined up at number 5. 2 minutess later a wiz joined up to fill the group and we all head in. It then went along these lines

Wiz: Sorry, I thought this was an Elite group.
    PL: No, LFM said hard.
Wiz: No worries, I will drop before you get far in then as I wanted Elite.
    DING - Wiz leaves group
PL: i wish people would learn to read the LFM, I had Hard marked in the LFM
Me: Sorry, I thought it was Elite as well. I am going to bail so you can fill my spot to.

Joined a Gladwatch group and as it turns out had the Wiz from earler group in it. We got to talking an looks like the PL had elite in the comments but hard in the mouseover.
Like you are going to check the mouseover if the comments say the difficulty.
A friend will bail you out of jail.
A mate will be sitting in there beside you saying "**** that was awsome!!!"

Look guys, the scenarios you are describing are not the case for the LFM's I put up. I am very clear what the difficulty level for the run is. I spell it out in the comments as well as make sure it is selected correctly when I select the name of the quest. Nobody has any excuse for not knowing the difficulty of the quest. I am asking that people read the LFM's and don't bother joining if that is not the difficulty you want to run it at. And also realize that once the LFM is up and I have already begun accepting party members I am not willing to surprise the people who joined believing it would be run at one difficulty by suddenly switching to another difficulty.

We're not accusing you of anything - we are expanding on the topic of conversation and adding in our own thoughts on the matter.
