Tomes - Requesting a dev response please

So we all have tomes sitting in our banks. We all know that tomes in the new update will carry over when TR'd in the new update and we have all heard speculation from people who are on Lamm about how it will work when it goes live, but we always get the caveat that we should wait and see what happens once it goes live.

As someone who is dying to use a couple tomes that have sat idle for time I'd rather cut to the chase and see if we can get some specific questions answered by the Devs.

1) First I recognize that after u13 goes live any tomes consumed, and as I understand it it means any tomes bound or unbound, bought in the store or earned/found in a quest, will carry over after you TR into the new life and be applied at the appropriate tier. I.e. a +2 tome consumed pre-TR will have a +1 stat affect automatically added at level 3 and then the +2 full affect added at level 7.

Now here comes the real questions

2) If I have consumed a tome prior to u13 going live, but have not TR'd yet and instead TR after u13 goes live will my tomes carry over. The root of the question being if I consume a tome I am hoarding in my bank today and wait until after u13 to TR will the tome go to waste and not carry over or will it carry over as noted in 1) above? I.e. does the carry over only apply to tomes consumed after u13 goes live?

3) If I have consumed a tome prior to u13 going live on a character and TR that character prior to u13 going live in the u12 environment that tome is lost. So if I had a strength of 16 and I consume a +2 tome to get to 18 prior to TR and prior to u13 and then TR prior to u13 my strength will be 16 again. (This is how it is now). If I do not consume another tome on my TR'd character before u13 goes live will once u13 goes live will it "look back" to prior tomes consumed and apply the carry over affect? In other words if my TR in this example were level 9 and hadn't consumed another STR tome as noted, once u13 went live when I logged in would I see my STR back up to 18 because it would have recognized that at some point in the history of the character he used a STR tome?

3)b) If the above in 3) happens how far doe sit look back? How many lives? Doe sit always apply the highest time ever used? Meaning if 2 past lives ago I once had a +3 tome, but this last past life I only had a +2 tome used will it look back to the highest, the +3 tome, and apply that or just the most recent? If it is the most recent (assuming it does it at all) then I can see it causing issues for those most recent TRs who used a cheap +1 tome at level 3.

The point of this thread is to get a definitive answer that should it not happen as indicated in the response we could create a bug report for and get fixed if required.

2) yes. Tested with my own wizzy. My +4 int eaten a year ago was well retained on Lamannia.
No reason it doesn't work on live.

3) no. If you TR before U13, the tome is forgotten, and you won't get it back. Only the "new-style" TR will look at your inherent bonus to reapply it in your new life.

A dev will not tell you anything else...

It's the only sensible implementation. When doing TR, you look up which properties are to remain. Currently that's name, gender, previous past lifes, current main class to turn into past life, TR status for build points and height bonus. Inventory goes into TR cache, bonus bag is tightly coupled with the character and stay. Now they simply add each inherent bonus. Coupled with Tome of Learning this makes TR much more interesting and keeps you in the game. Win win.

I'm too chicken to waste a years worth of tome pulling without KNOWING it'll work on the live servers first.

heres some grand advice. Ever read that disclaimer where turbine is in no way liable if something acts like a ***** in the mechanics and somehow something that should work didn't work? I think im going to wait to see numerous reports that a TR has used +2 +3 and +4 tomes (just to be thorough) and they have successfully carried over.

Yeah, I have a character that ate a +2 supreme tome that I will be TR'ing on Monday to make sure it works. After he hit's level 7 and I've confirmed he has the +2 inherent to all stats, I'll consider TR'ing my guys with the +3 tomes.

As bitka has mentioned NOBODY should even attempt a TR on Monday unless we get some dev confirmation about the bug that is causing people to lose most of their items when they TR. This can't be stated enough. NOBODY should TR on Monday without a tested fix going to the update first. Spread the word.

A Dev could post confirmation about the bug, inform us that it has been fixed in time for the release Monday, and swear by the hair on their granny's chin that it will be safe to TR come Monday.

And I'd still recommend waiting until a goodly number of folks have gone through the process, preferably with screen shots of before-and-after, or even better a Fraps video.

Tested a guy that 2 tr's ago ate some +3 tomes they didnt come back nor should they as that was long ago. Now the +2's he had ate that current life came back and yes I got him back up to 11
