That event was un-bearable. Good luck all.

Ya with about 50 people online lol and all they do is come out for the events and you will never see most of them on again until the next event..

I didn't see any trivia either.
They should offer guilds on live better bonuses for having their members test things on lam land. Maybe a decrease on renown decay to make up for the time spent there and another special bonus (Extra renown for for time spent there or something.) Testing without having everyone there at the same time would be great.
There was trivia and a Q&A session. Thank you to all the Turbine folks. My FR knowledge is weak, but still got a couple.
I was using my older laptop, and did experience some lag but it is to be expected. If you were frozen in place for long periods, check out your machine and connection.
Use the standard not hi-res, turn off post processing, turn off shadows, turn off AA, lower the draw distance setting for other players. When optimizing DDO you need to think of it as a FPS, and do the things you would do in one of those games to max your frame-rate.
Turbine members have stated that they have worked and continue to work on server side lag. Not all lag is server side. There was a guy at the event yelling at everyone to turn off their pets. What amounts to a mostly graphical addition to the game would you say that was server side? Lag from spell effects? Being surrounded by more people than usual, and all using special effects wouldn't cause client side lag? In an older thread here, there was a person complaining about their high-end machine having troubles with the high res version. Their high-end machine had a recent processor, ram and then used an equivalent to a on-board video card.
Turbine has stated they are aware of the situation. Now you can rage and stomp your feet, or you can do what you can from your end.
when I dont fall below 45fps with high res and options turned up, have no P/L then experience crippling lag where even the mobs stop moving along with me, there is nothing I can do at my end. Well, I do have the option of checking out a few other games...
yes I am very aware that many folks experience graphics lag and unjustly blame turbine, but there are some serious server side issues going on right now.
I'm a bear and I find this word "Un-bearable" to be very offensive to my species.
Sorry, but I have rarely experienced the type of crippling lag that you are talking about. I can count on one hand the number of times that lag has been so bad that the game was unplayable for me. And of those time. probably half were in the Subterranean.
Maybe this can help you better than blaming Turbine for any lag that isn't graphic related...

This is my Columbus, OH to Boston, MA result.
And here is a Ping and Packet test from Columbus to Brooklyn (sorry, no Boston host for this one yet)

One thing I did learn last night . . . Kookiekobold just doesn't appreciate the fine art of sneak-humping.
I experience lag more often than the poster above me. And I'd like to think at this point I can identify when it's a graphics slow down (No Ice Storm in the All-PM Shroud, please. -.-) and when it is a connectivity issue.
What I've found sometimes is that when you're in an instance-based setting, you're only as fast as your slowest member. I've gone from full health to negative and dead without seeing a drop in my bar - and it had nothing to do with my system or settings. And sitting at 500+ HP, and taking damage amounts that are roughly ~100 DPS, I should expect to at least be able to react prior to my untimely demise. -- This also comes about the same time I learn someone in the instance with me has chronic, and constant, lag in raid-based settings.
Lag is there - and it's not just on the "client side". I appreciate that Turbine staff are working on it, but from this observer's perspective, they are not done yet.

I like speedtest.net and I do go there to check my Internet connection periodically but I have noticed a lot of 5 to 10 second spikes in the last week. For me DDO usually runs pretty smooth.
Sorry But you are wrong with the amount of people online on Lammy there should be no lag at all.. It took 5 mins for me to move from WW to the crack in the wall. And I play on Lammy every day.. Nothing in My PC has been changed.. Only Change was more people on Lammy..I don't get that much lag on Live.

Now, try doing the packet test...and try setting the Speedtest to the receiving server in Boston, not the one that's less than 50 miles from your house. It's not just the speed of the signal, but the quality as well.
And, I'm not saying that it's not Turbine's fault, but when so many people are experiencing greatly different performance, there are more factors than what a lot of people lend credence to.

I have a 3meg line and I lag very little on lammy, but I do lag when there are more then normal people on. Oh and I noticed on live when I'm in a Perth with someone who's lagging, I start lagging. But if I reset the client I don't lag anymore -_-
