Question What is your ultimate dream MMO?

I'll put this in the off topics because it has nothing to do with DDO. And it isn't a knock at our game in any way either. I just wonder sometimes about the limitations in coding and other tech related concerns about creating a game that I have zero knowledge about.

Anyway, what is your ultimate dream MMO?

For me it would be another D&D based MMO. I'd prefer 3.5 rules system. The world or mythos is open. I like them all: Greyhawk, F.R. and Eberron...whatever.

But here is the part I want that I think is still quite impossible. I want it to look like Skyrim and be on the same scale with groupings (pugs) of players!

For those in 'the know' with coding and game creation, why can't they do that already? I'm really in the dark about these things.

It is a dream of mine, though. To walk in caves and ruins and figure out puzzles and traps and have it look like that visually. Plus you have five or eleven others moving along with you! Wow! I'd need to get hooked up to an I.V. drip or I might quit eating. Talk about game addiction! Oh boy!

So...how about others? What is your ultimate dream MMO?

    Thanks all!

    I'm waiting for the holodeck.

I'm going to save a million dollars more than I need to retire, so I have the cash on hand to buy one when it's invented in 2038.

It is like going to a museum and bragging about how fast you made it through. Or bragging about how fast you finished a good steak.

With the safety protocols off that would make perma death play a little more dramatic, huh?

    Utlimate mmo eh?

    Let's see:

Final Fantasy's beautiful graphics and great storytelling meets:

Ddo's active combat of course, meets:

Vindictus's combo attacks (i think this is what i'm thinking, i better check and delete if needed....keep ddo's active combat style but add ability to chain main and offhand attacks into combo's....meets:

Phantasy Stars many many worlds with hundreds of quests (not rat pelt type) on each planet...meets:

Guild wars 2 ability to change weapons and be prof. in each of them, in battle and their ability to group with lower/higher levels and the game adjusts your stats etc to match...meets:

Any game that has full voice overs ...meets:

Any game that allows player made dungeons, from creation of game....no loot distributed, only xp and of course fun factor of playing what your peer's have created...meets:

Impending divorce once this goes live lol...

Really, there's a ton of games i just love, but to find a way to get the all together in one IP, that would be the ultimate...

Oh and the contract/market system of Eve, and the ability to do those things anywhere in game world, not tied to ah and pawn shop attendee's...

Think i covered most everything, take what you will and mush it all around...

DDO's adherence to 3.5 D&D rules (with some tweaks), active combat and character customization. Probably DDO's graphics, or better ones with a similar bent toward realism at least. Some things could be flashier.

    SW:TOR's story-telling.

WoW's budget, voice-acting, music (not sure how I feel about the music specifically, but the caliber is what I'm referring to...full orchestras and such), and scope (the world is pretty **** huge). Probably WoW's quasi-living world (zones aren't cut off from each other; nasty monsters can be in lower level areas, or even in towns).

Star Wars Galaxy's/WoW's(?) character options/jobs like music, residences, non-dungeon/combat pursuits.

    More of an interactive environment.

With a greater adventuring feel. That is, I want story-arcs that feel more like adventure stories, with parties moving across a landscape, popping into a dungeon or meeting some task in a town or the wilderness, and moving on toward some goal, or merely wandering, out looking for adventure. Some site-based adventuring (what we have in DDO where we all hang out in a town and pop off for the equivalent of a day or two for some task in a basement or locale just outside of town) is okay by me, but I don't really care for it being the focus for the entire game.

I think something along the lines of WoW's factions, where you can have some PvP, raiding of each others bases and such, could be interesting, but not something I'm necessarily overly inclined toward, but I do want a greater sense of development to the world. We've been killing the same raid bosses for, in some cases, as long as 6 years. It would be nice if, eventually, they stayed dead. If loot is a concern, make it more common, perhaps in a weaker form, after that part of the game is ultimately concluded (removed from the game world).

There's a lot I could say here that's already been said, but, to me, my dream MMO has to have first figured out how to be truely _massive_. Multiple "servers" that separate players is pure hogwash. There is nothing massive about that.

Starship combat with the same physics as Starfleet Command: Orion Pirates only with a stable engine in a "bigger" universe.

Here is a first go at a real holo deck. 2038 is probably a good estimate.

What I'd love to see is a swords-and-sorcery MMO that uses an advanced version of Kinect or Wii technology to require that the player physically make the motions necessary to swing a weapon, fire a bow, cast a spell, etc. I don't need force feedback- taking a crit from Suul could leave a bruise- but I like the idea of getting a bit of exercise along with my fun.

I'd rather have the Matrix. In the holodeck you're limited by your real life body. Matrix - sky's the limit.
