    Default Half Elf Rogue Barb

    I have been trying to build a Rogue Barbarian for a while and everyone I do seems to fade out of usefulness at about level 8 or 9. Not trying to make an uber build, just one that can work well within a group. I think the toon should be able to do damage, be survivable and have some basic trap skills. I initially wanted prestige assassin and berserker, but found I could not get prerequisites for both. So ended up with thief acrobat and berserker.

    Take a look and offer some tweaks. It will be a TR toon fighter past life. Wanted toon to be highly skilled, that is why intel is where it is.

    What sort of TR can't afford a +2 DEX tome?

    One that has never TR'd before. Never really thought about tomes guess I should. So you think best tome would be +2 dex.

    Unless there's some compelling reason to go HE I'm missing, I would probably go human for the extra feat & skill pts. Base stats something like 18 / 15 / 14 / 12 / 8 / 8 with a +2 DEX tome to get ITWF & GTWF and if possible a +2 INT tome for extra skill pts.

    Also, I would go rogue 7 / barb 12 / ftr 1 so you can squeeze in another feat & +1D6 SA. That's enough feats for TWF x3, Power Atk, Cleave, Toughness, khopesh, IC Slash, plus one more (e.g., Imp Sunder).

    I'm not sure why you put so many skill pts into Balance, Jump, Hide, MS, and Tumble, yet have such a low Search score. You realize if you can't find a trap, you can't disable it, right? Unless you've got the gear & buffs to get away with less, always max out Search & Disable on a trapmonkey, IMHO. [Spot's also a good idea if you haven't memorized trap locations.]

    EDIT: and don't forget that while Raged, you can't do traps or use wands & scrolls, so time your anger management issues accordingly.

    thanks, for the feed back.

    I realized after that I failed to get search and spot to appropriate level, will re work those. Half elf was just flavor, but human definitely makes more sense.

    where would you take the fighter level? in the first three levels?

    Now that y'all have me thinking of tomes, I think at 7 I'll just go +2 across the board.

    I was looking for a rogue acro build for my TR fighter and tried a few combo's of pure/barb/fighter and was following the big f'n stick builds but since u want to go mostly barb i think u need to think about your play style.

    I'll explain.
    I had a pure rogue with int as a dump stat and max'd str, but doing nothing but elites had to totally max my trap gear every odd level to be able to hit them. So by going only 6-7 levels of rogue you may have to limit yourself to normal traps, etc. But if you group and want that elite streak you'll be playing the barb role alot. So i would level up in barb pure till u get the pre level u want, so 6th, 12th, what ever, then take your rogue levels to boost your damage later in the game.

    I found that with my ranger life, that after 12th tactics need to change with melees and a class change for some nice situational damage and evasion when your 4 million hp's are now not enough, is a great boost. Maybe it only worked on a ranger because all their tier 3(all one of them) are so weak and their spells max out at 14th.

    FYI the fighter TR was a 13 fighter(power surge yum!) 7 barb WF monster and i TR into a Horc acro til 6th then took fighter 1 and sits at 8/1 atm.

    I love playing rogues and int based toons seam to be able to slash rogue very well, but others, like barb/ranger/ etc will find it very hard. If your on kyber mail me on my main "nonreflectiv", he'll be the insane Helf arty with the bad haircut.

    I skipped rogue PrE because IMHO the 1st-tier ones don't add enough to this build to be worth the AP cost.

    Of the 1st tier rogue PrEs, Acrobat gives you nothing, Assassin gives you very little DPS, Mechanic gives you a little bump in trap skills. You mentioned skills being important, so if you do pick any Mechanic is the way to go.

    I think you will be unhappy with your survivability, but a build like unbongwah's should satisfy all your other goals.
