Human Scorc Build

I was planning to use this build for my 28 point Human Scorc:

I wanted to get some tips on this build because it appears to be from about 5 years ago and may be outdated. Any tips on what feats to take? I'm not sure I agree about taking empower feat so early, the extra 15sp per cast is going to be too expensive to use early. Also, I want this build to be very good at insta death spells. It seems like I should take greater spell pen somewhere, what should I give up? Also how about taking mental toughness lvl 1 instead of 18? Also any tips or improvements on the spell selection, feats or anything else?

Or if you could just give me a link to another good human sorc build that would be awesome too.
