    Default Kung Fu Caster

Ive been hearing alot about a Combo of a Monk/Caster using Fists or quaterstaff combined with the Warforged Race. It sounds like Something fun. Swingging in Battle and able to hit hard sounds fun. What i am wondering is putting points in Str, Dex, Wis, Int or Str, Dex, Wis, Cha. Thats alot to spread out for 28pt. So Why not just put Weapon Finesse. But it seems like when i use Weapon Finesse it seems like a Rarely hit them in Melee. So can someone help me some that up? So a Monk/Wizard WF Quaterstaff OR Handwraps?

(This is just a combo for a melee Self Buffer! AND I KNOW BARD AND CLERIC BUT I WANNA MAKE THIS!)

    Quistions:
    -Is weapon finesse good?
    -Quaterstaff or Handwraps?
    -Monk/Wizard or Other?
-How many levels of Monk, How many levels of wizard should i take?
-What Race should i Pick Finally?
-IS THis combo Powerful or Not Powerful?

See, that's a large part of the problem. Building a good monk with 28 points is hard. Building a good multiclassed build is also hard.

The combo is not really powerful. The whole "self buffing" thing is easy enough to come by as an Artificer, Rogue, Bard, Cleric or even a normal melee class with a single level of any of those.

Oddly enough, a melee WITHOUT a splash can still get a decent amount of the buffs you would want. A monk with 1 level of Rogue can easily do everything this character can do and more.

Here is a list of common buffs needed and how to get them. There are more ways I cant think of at the moment as well:

    Scrolls/Potions of Heroism
    Haste potions/clickies
    Divine Power Clickies
    Fireshield Scrolls
    Displace scrolls/clickies
    Rage potions/Clickies
    Scrolls Of greater Heroism.
    Scrolls/Clickies/Items of true seeing
    Elemental resist Potions
    Stoneskin wands/clickies

It is my suggestion that you do not try this. Just do a Rogue/Monk mix and pick up UMD will your skill points.

Your goal is a melee self buffer, ok. Let us review what self buffs you get from each level of wizard...

    Level 1
Nightshield: Resistance bonus to saves (does not stack with items), Magic Missile protection
Expeditious Retreat: Running speed bonus (does not stack with items or Haste)
You give up: Capstone, level 20 damage and AC bonuses

    Level 3
    See Invisibility: As name suggests
    False Life: 13 temporary HP
You give up: Tier 4 stances, 3rd rank of monk Prestige (Shintao only), speed bonus

    Level 5
    None
You give up: level 16 damage bonus, DR X/adamantine bypass

    Level 7
Fire Shield: 50% reduction in Fire or Cold damage, available in clickies
You give up: Quivering Palm (instant kill maneuver), speed bonus, AC bonus

There are not good trades. It follows that splashing wizard into monk is not a good way to achieve your goal.
