    Default cannith.cubicleninja not working?

I found this absolute brilliant web based Cannith Crafting planner/utility but...

It doesn't seem to be working any longer...

Any one else use this and are having problems with the site working properly?

Hope it gets fixed soon because of all the Cannith Planners out there this one is the best!

It stopped working just today. It was working fine last night.

Got to remember to pm JJ about that.

Confirm. The itemwiki database is also down.

    Code:

I'm currently waiting for my hosting company to fix whatever it is has hosed up on the server to get my sites back up and running.

I'll update here as soon as they tell me what happened / what's going on.

Ok -- so apparently something got mixed up and my account was flagged to be limited to 100 concurrent open connections. They're correcting that now and they said the change will go to undo that limit within 24 hours.

The tech had no idea what caused my account to get flagged like that, but he ensured me that it won't happen again once the fix goes through.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ouch. I knew it wasn't your code but had to be service side. good to hear it will be working per normal soon.

I guess that shows just how many people use it.

If you had the account limited to 100 concurrent connections, i can understand where the trouble comes from, being such a useful tool, i would think that everyone intersted in crafting uses it.
Thanks a lot JJ, you make our lives (virtual lives) easier.
    Please keep it up.

Another part of it is that several web crawlers are rather unfriendly to web apps, and can easily fill up any such concurrent limit. There is no robots.txt on the Cannith or ItemWiki sites directing crawlers (ones that actually abide by the site admin's requests that is...) to limit themselves.

*nod* I'm currently in the process of updating a lot of my links to be NoFollow and setting up a robots.txt to keep crawlers from recursively crawling all the dynamic page variants.

Most of the pages and content loads quickly so the connections are closed within a second of opening, but there are some of the search results pages that can take a while to process out all of the data to the screen.

I want to try to get that all in place prior to the new update with the additional cannith crafting levels.

Also -- Thank you everyone for the kind words, it's much appreciated

Just so you know, robots still follow "NoFollow" tags. They just don't give that page "credit" for ranking purposes. They won't help reduce your crawler usage.

There are many bad bots out there and I use the .htaccess to block many sites that are abusers. I usually block Baidu and Yandex because they are pretty greedy and my sites are usually not chinese or russian, but yours are more global so that may not be an option for you.

Good luck with it- managing spiders takes some time but is well worth it in the end.

Also, I don't know what server you are on, but I'd send you in-game stuff to help pay you back for my many hours on your site. Oh, I just noticed you do have a paypal donate button- I will be sure to send you something!

Your sites really enhance my ability to enjoy the game and a huge thank you for that!
