Default New Hirelings idea, with a twist!

    Im full of em tonight!

Im sure like myself, many others find the hirelings to be rather inadequate- To say the least. This goal of this idea is to better aid those of us who like to solo, or on those quiet nights where it can be difficult to find others to either quest with, or to just fill in required slots in your party.

Requesting PERMANENT hirelings, purchased through the DDO store, that are BTC. The twist? I want them to implement to some degree, the system employed by the Artis dogs.

Imagine permanent hirelings that we could customize & that level with our characters. Hirelings we can set up, select enhancements and attributes for, hirelings that we ourselves gear up, hirelings where WE select the abilities they bring into battle. Its frustrating purchasing a level 20 cleric with gear that I can only imagine from content that we have long out grown running around with 200 hp. Theyre more of a liability than an asset at times it seems.

Just more from my wish list.

I posted an idea like this. I called them 'companions', suggested they took a character slot and that you interact with them with messages via barkeeps. Not everybody liked the idea (to put it mildly :P )

You know that's a pretty good idea.

This would make for a great assistant for Barbs, Fighters, Rogues, as well all the classes that would not typically get a companion. And they would take up the "Pet" slot on the Group make up, not a full group slot. Which would be a real boon.

Call them Squires, Men-at-Arms, Apprentices, Adepts, etc.

We would get then, only after we obtained 10th level, then we could tun in a boat load of AD's (because, perish the thought of a endless hire being free) and they would follow us around and heal us, while not taking a group slot, and we have to take care of them to an extent, IE: raise, heal, gear and outfit, and they cast curative spells for us, healing us and what have you.

    I could get behind this.

    /Signed.

I was actually thinking these *should* use up a group slot versus the pet slot, as these are potentially, and hopefully, much more powerful than a regular hireling, that already uses up a slot. I cant imagine a group of 6 people, all with their own perm-hireling thats notably more powerful than a hireling, bringing the group count up to 12. Seems a bit TOO powerful when viewed in that light.

Upgradable hirelings ? Nice idea. Yesterday I thought what would be if hirelings could level up, too ?

Because they are so often in dungeons ... killing enemies ... shouldn't they get xp for that, too ? I thought.

Gold seals are more profitable. Tons of players buy them every day.

You say tons- Whats do you base this information off of? Can I see a source for this? Do you have a rough ball park number to the "Average" amount of gold-seals bought? Thank you

Fwiw in my year+ of playing, ive literally seen a single gold seal used. Ever. And not by myself

Try a solo-only toon and see how far you get before wishing you could summon an extra hireling at the end of a dungeon to prevent a full wipe after spending 45 minutes in the dungeon.

A nice idea, but since they can't get regular hirelings to work properly I can't see this being implemented any time soon.

If it ever were to get implemented, they should definitely take up a party slot, same as any other hire.
