This is a big enough problem to warrant a discussion and developer response:
* The Sovereign Rune of Smiting on Dragontouched armor incorrectly uses the older effect instead: Any critical hit on a construct forces the target to make a DC 23 Fortitude save or die. This effect stacks with the new smiting.
* Additionally, smiting weapons have an undocumented +2 enhancement bonus against constructs, much like a Construct Bane weapon. This is not found on Disruption, Banishing, or any of the similar item effects. More evidence is listed here:

* The Mace of Smiting incorrectly lists the older effect, but uses the new version. While it is not listed on its item description, the Mace of Smiting also possess the +2 enhancement bonus against constructs that the Smiting enhancement normally gives.
Submitted the appropriate bug report. The melee classes would appreciate fixing the Dragontouched version to make it desirable enough to craft! I would also appreciate either explaining or removing the unintended +2 enhancement bonus to Smiting effects. As much as melee likes the buff, it doesn't make any sense and shouldn't be there.
