Default Songs not giving all bonuses?

I was wondering if anyone else is having issues with songs not giving the correct boost to damage. If my math is correct my song should provide a +6 to damage. Here is the breakdown:

    +1 damage at level 1.

    +1 damage at level 8.

    +2 warchanter 1.

    +2 for inspire damage 2.

When I sing the total damage goes up by 4. Is there something I am missing? I have tested it on myself and other players in my group. It is always +4 not +6.

    Any insight/thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Do you have the damage ship buff? I believe it's a morale bonus, like bard songs.

It is probably a stacking issue. Good Hope also gives +2 Morale bonus to damage, so that's one possible cause. The best way to be certain is to test the song when you have absolutely no other buffs going. That will tell you what bonus the song is providing.

Ye was thinking about good hope too, anyway you probably have a +2 buff prior to the song that doesn't stack with it.

Thats odd.. it should be +6 when you sing. I don't get what everyone else is saying. The song should over write good hope. anyhow...right?? Good hope gives +2 morale to damage like his song SHOULD be giving with the enhancements and for his bard level.

Yeah, but say you have no buffs, and you have +10 to damage.

Well then, you cast Good Hope. You now have +12 to damage.

Well then, you sing Inspire Courage. You now have +16 to damage.

It doesn't stack with Good Hope, and if you didn't know that, you'd be wondering why you only went up by +4. The thing is, you indeed did go up by a Morale Bonus of +6.

First, no, Inspire Courage does not overwrite Good Hope.
In DDO, when X overwrites Y, it means that Y is completely gone. X is cast, and the game forgets that Y ever existed.

That doesn't happen with Inspire Courage and Good Hope. You can make the Good Hope icon disappear from your buff bar by having both Inspire Courage and Greater Heroism; however, the game still remembers the Good Hope. Since Good Hope usually lasts longer than Inspire Courage, once the IC runs out, the Good Hope will reappear.

Second, the change from a +2 morale bonus to a +6 morale bonus is +4. The laws of math say so.
I don't know this for a fact, but I'm assuming the OP is watching the damage tab in his inventory. So his main hand might list d6+14 damage. He sings Inspire Courage, and it changes to d6+18 damage. If we had the breakdown, it might have said,
    • Before IC: d6 (rapier) +5 (weapon enhancement) +7 (strength) +2 (morale)
    • With IC: d6 (rapier) +5 (weapon enhancement) +7 (strength) +6 (morale)

Notice that the +2 is replaced with a +6, and the change in the total is +4.
