Default Give legends a reason to group with heros

I thought i was rather noob proof, but my last tour through the harbor really got me thinking..

What about rewarding legends with a small xp boost if they group with 'heros'? (like +1~2% per hero in the party)

... or even +10% xp bonus on quest completion for each soulstone in your backpack

XP bonus for dual-boxing! Sounds good! :-)

I don't dual-box, but really, I don't think this would change anyone's play at all. Legends who group with folks anyway will gladly take a few extra %, and those too scared of the 10% death penalty still won't pug with unknown heroes.

Here's my reson why "legends" should group with "heros":
Just because you're a TR doesn't make you better than everyone else.

    /NOT signed.
No xp boosts, no extra rewards for TR for being so humble and kind for grouping with the low non-tr, or first TRs.

You think you're better than eveyone else? Don't join PUGs. That's as simple as that.

(I'm actualy a legend, and I still don't support any XP boosts or special rewards for TRs for partying with heros\champions\adventurer.)

From my experience a higher level of TR is usually much less effective than having good equipment. Though its usually assumed that a legend might have better equipment than a hero, its not always the case. Now if its a hero TR vs. The crazy completionist guy with 30 past lives, then yeah he's got an edge, but that typically isn't the case. It's usually a function of equipment and player skill that makes a toon good.

If your character is so powerful that you need an incentive for joining PUGs, please, don't join them.

It took one run to notice that it was a bad idea to bring my TR sorc into a newbie party. They see the kobolds getting one shotted by maximized spells, think the game is easy, when they don't have knowledge, damage or resources to slice through a harbor quest on elite that easily. If they leave one of those troglodyte casters alive for 10 seconds, a fireball will wipe their party.

Yeah, the benefits of TR are minuscule compared to the benefits of twinking, and player skill/knowledge. The biggest difference between a TR and first-lifer starts around level 10 when BtC Raid loot starts coming into play. An SoS or LitII is significantly better than anything a first lifer, even a twinked first lifer, is going to have.

While the issue of multiple TR's not partying with new players is an issue, it's a valid issue due to the reasons behind it.

There are tons of players out there. Find a guild and go level. Honestly it's really easy to do.

    Cool

    yawn...

i have played with "adventures" that knew what they needed to do and i have played with legends who died constantly because they thought they knew what they needed to do.... just the usual "I'm so elite" bull excrement.

If you want a party you can trust, group with people you can trust... otherwise just take whats there and make the best out of it (and really the most gimped runs were the most fun runs in my experience).

Haha ok was just a quick idea..

I'm somewhat new to the supertwink legend status and I thought it was a good idea to setup a lfm for harbor quests. Certainly could have soloed the quests but was like 'why not invite some people to the party?'. Now that you mentioned it I can see how mixed grouping is a bad idea altogether. Not only because I loose xp and time (and hair!) by setting up a lfm but also by ruining the new players game experience and making their adventurers life too easy.

I support the idea to give some XP bonus for those who do group with others (doesn't matter if Legend or not).
Like +1% for each member (so full group of 6 members gets 5% XP bonus).

They should be giving my 32pt alts bonus xp for carrying half the gimp TR's through quests. I coud certainly get behind the 10% per soul stone 15% if its a legend

legends should get like 5% xp more or something that would give legends slighty more xp since we do have a whole 800k more xp to cap

This is what I immediately thought when I saw this...started grumbling to myself about having to drag a toon to all my quests on the 2nd computer.

Agreed. Legend here too. I'd rather help out a new player and suffer the 10% then be rewarded for "allowing" them to grace my group.

Helping them means when I cap I might have some new players next life through, or some new members to hit the LFM that know what to do.

Just solo or group with Legends if you don't like them.

I thought about something like this, like +2% exp per member, beyond the first, that joins a group, and -1% exp per member that dies. That way, a full group will still gain more exp then a solo player, even if everyone dies.

    Added:

However, with the way Dungeon Scaling works, perhaps a +4% per member beyond the first with a -2% for each member that died, would be far more enticing for people to make groups.

Unfortunately, those who do not wish to group with others are not going to be pleasant if they feel "forced" into it by game mechanics, even if it's just a minor benefit and not actually being forced. How many groups run Necro 1 these days?

You can't force grouping. Either they'll get guildies, dual/triple box, or just solo anyway. Or they can leave if you remove the solo option from the table.
