Default A question on Dev's and item creations...

    Here's a rather interesting question:

I happen to have on one of my characters a unique Underwater Action necklace. What's so 'unique' about it, you ask? Well, it has no minimum level AND is unbound. These days, such items no longer spawn intentionally, plus on top of that the bottle of air does the same thing but in a trinket slot, yet it does make we wonder:

"Can developers create items with no minimum level and extremely powerful effects in the field(A.K.A. in-game) for themselves or others?"

And no, im not asking for any freebees, either on live or Lamannia. I'm just a bit curious is all...

My understanding is that they can only spawn items in stacks of 100.

There's not really anything special about it, except the item is old. Back when DDO was new, the UWA mod was only a +1 and was on all kinds of harbor loot at ml0. Sometime back it was changed to a higher mod (ml7, so I guess maybe a +4?). Anyhow, the change wasn't retroactive, so any UWA item from launch until the change are still the original ml0. The only thing "unique" is that its apparently survived use, vendoring, deconstructing, etc for a number of months at least. But, otherwise its totally mundane.

It could come from anyone who ported such an item to Lamma with character copy. Did you loot this from a chest or something? Otherwise I'd just assume its an antique.

    This.
I have a couple left from the old days, I think. If I'd known about the change beforehand, I'd have kept more of them instead of vendoring them... but they dropped like candy in those days.

Doesn't Harbringer or Reign occasionally drop no ML +6 stat items in the chain reward list? I've not paid any attention, but I don't think I got any anyway. I'm going to suggest running it tomorrow night for my static guild run though, and see what pops. Maybe I can hope a certain guildy pulls that docent with healing amp for his WF Pally. He probably won't use it though, for a plain +5 docent...

Yes, you can get high-powered no ML items, but they're BTA, and the one's I've seen break pretty easily. Still great twink gear, though.

Pretty sure they could build up amazing items subject to certain rules.

They'd need to start with a set of base item stats that actually exist in the game. One possibility would be to start with the 'base stats' of the Epic Sword of Shadow (5d6 damage, 18-20/x3 crit rage, Greatsword properties).

Then they could add any mutations that actually exist in-game - +10, Greater Incineration, Lightning Strike, Doublestrike 6%, Terror's 'on-crit' proc, Aligned, Metalline, Litany of the Dead Combat Bonus, and the like.

Then they could set the minimum level, bind status, and add hardness.

What they could not add (short of serious programming) - effects that don't exist in game. No 10/rest clickies of Radiant Forcefield. No 'Super-Dooper Epic Necromancy Focus +17'. No Epic Plant Bane.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

From the Euro servers... I wonder if it got transferred over here.

I get the feeling they can't just create a new unique item on the fly on the live servers and probably not on Lasagna either.

Isn't that the quiver there was some rant & rave ( and frothing rage ) about some month ago.... well maybe a year ago actually.

The special quiver that got given as a special reward for a special event that was held on the European Servers.
On G-Land : Flavilandile, Blacklock, Yaelle, Millishande, Larilandile, Gildalinde, Tenalafel, and many other...
