So you can go in and change my boots...but I still have to pay 5 relics to make them upgradable?

That is a good question. I would like to know the reasoning.
heh, in the other thread I suggested, if you want the new "can cast, lay torches, use clicky" version that you should be ABLE TO by using 5 relics to change them! But if you didn't want to, you didn't have to.
They do this type of **** all the time when they nerf something. If they make it better you have to jump through some hoop to get it, if they nerf it, it's automatic.
If they're already changing it anyway, then why do I STILL have to waste my 5 relics to change it to a version that can be upgraded? Just make it upgradable when you nerf it.
I figured it was too complicated/time consuming for them to make everyone's old stuff upgradable when they added that to the game, but now they are showing that they can change everyone's boots no problem, and you still have to pay for the ability to upgrade them.
Devs have replied on the other madstone thread that no change will be made to the boots when U13 goes live.
Lamaland still has the nerfed boots for the time being, though.
The devs have said that when they upgrade something, they can't be sure that everyone will want to new version, so they have the upgrade rituals (which are severely over-costed), but when they nerf something, the intent is to take that away, so they make the changes themselves.
In some cases where upgrades change functionality for an item when it no longer works like it did, I can understand that, but for ones where the upgrades are all purely positive (like and item going from +4 stat to +6 stat), I feel that logic is flawed.
