Default Advice sought on a Pale Master/monk for solo

Having rather badly stalled on both my solo characters (monk 12, suddenly cant survive) wizard 9 (Too buff dependant and fiddly) I've been toying around with ways to create a synthesis of the two. There seems to be some good synergy with Monk and pale master, the undead forms Zombie, and Vampire look particularly good, but aside from this vage notion, I'm not sure how it will play out.

Plan would be 32pt, non WF, as much wizard as can be sustained with an eye to being able to buff into solo-viable meele and still unleash arcane power. My main concern is that I've never played a Pale master and don't know what self healing would be available as I levelled. Can't gear the char particularly either as I have not progressed far enough to make any real coin. Any and all suggestions or build ideas and recommendations are gratefully received.
Currently levelling: Lainnu, WF Arteficter 18, Khyber, Leader of House Tarkanan
Jhankgix, WF lvl 21 monk, Grand Master of Flowers,Khyber, House Tarkanan

    18/2 Wiz/Monk.

Going WF is better so that you're not as dependent on gear, not to mention that you have the option to drop out of form and still get excellent self-healing when mobs are throwing Searing Light like confetti, but nonWF is viable too.

Thank you, how does a PM self heal in form? I don't see any spells they can use in the Compendium?

Would a vicious weapon work there? the damage done to wielder is negative energy, right?

    PMs self heal with...

    1. Lesser Death Aura (Level 2 spell)
    2. Death Aura (Level 4 spell)
    3. Negative Energy Burst (Level 4 spell)
    4. Boon of Undeath Inflict Light Wounds when struck in combat
    5. Lich Form: Temporary Hit Points when struck in combat.

PMs can heal with the damage-over-time spells Death Aura (and Lesser Death aura though that is fairly weak), and Negative Energy Burst for, er, burst healing.

Also i am pretty sure vicious damage is true untyped damage, i.e. nothing prevents it. Otherwise I might just roll up a 18 Wiz/2 Mnk myself......

How does form swapping work? If I pack an eternal wand of cure least can I swap from corpse to living in a quest, top up my HP and back?

    Avoid Vampire and Zombie forms.

Going Zombie will nuke your melee DPS into the ground with the attack speed reduction, as well as trashing your Int.

Vampire looks great, until some level 5 NPC Cleric lands a Searing Light on you for 600 damage. There are too many divine caster NPC's out there to accept a x4 vulnerability to light damage.

Wraith is an excellent choice, since you get Con damage on your unarmed attacks, incorporeality, etc...and Lich is the bomb.

re: Healing. You can also get Inflict pots from the undead collector in House J, from the DDO store, or from the Mabar event. And there's a ring from the Abbot raid (Accursed Ascension for the pedantic) that has daily charges of Harm.

Death Aura and Negative Energy Burst (Hopefully quickened and maximized) will be your bread and butter for self heals though.
Give a man a fish, and he demands two more tomorrow.
Teach a man to fish, and he'll leave to find somebody who'll just give him a fish.
Beat him unconscious with the fish, and it's comedy.
