If you already have the tinkers set then that means you have the cannith pack.. you could just try farming for the monocular enhancer and use it as a swappable thingy? It even has a reconstruct clicky you can use in emergencies on yourself or team-members
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

Can't say I've seen more worthwhile items than the spyglass and Tharnes goggles (Ok, maybe FuzzyDuck's suggestion - but that's goggles again). If there's anything else out there that fits in a helm or trinket slot, it must be a rare item indeed.

If you only want it for search, why not just acquire/carry Tharnes and switch when you know you need 'em?

Epic spyglass is great - lets me find the trap box by the barrier solved by the "puzzle" when you go to VoD.

Edit: Add the epic spyglass and the aforementioned monocular enhancer, and you get a +25 search bonus from items even before considering anything stat related. NICE!

Chiming in with the swapping option.
You won't need a search item all the time, so using it as a swap-in (either in the goggles, or ring slot) is a very sensible thing to do. Just make sure you don't swap out your Int item for your search item.

You only need Search when it's time to search out a box, so you don't need it in a permanent slot. It comes on goggles and rings, though if you are swapping goggles you'll need somewhere else to bring in Int +6 for those high-DC traps. You could carry a swappable Int ring or helm or something.

    1. Spot box.
    2. Equip search gear.
    3. Search for trap.
    4. Unequip search gear.

Problem with the monocular enhancer is its only +10. I have search 15 goggles, or can that add 5 more if i use a search 15 ring and the monocular?

just wanted to make use of some kind of open spots, guess its going to have to swap untill the spyglass event comes back. Arrrrr!

It's Search +10, Enhanced Search +5. So overall +15 Total Search.

Could you get more by wearing the Monocular Enhancer, and a Search +15 Item? Sure.

You have an Intel ring.. and another unnamed ring. Why not just Hot-Swap a Search +15 ring in when you need it?

A search item should not be worn unless you are going to Search. I keep Spot on and swap to Search when needed.

The Giantcraft Siberys Compass fits in a trinket slot - ML 13, +13 Search, +2 Resistance and +4 to Will Saves. I join the others saying that you don't need a Search item equiped all the time and you can find a better search item, but it is the only non-crafted one that fits in a Trinket slot and they are on the AH constantly.
