    Default Class Combinations for Dualboxing?

Like a few other masochists I enjoy dual boxing DDO, that is playing two characters at once on two separate instances of DDO.

However as I also suffer from altitis I've been messing around trying to find a good combination of two characters and their classes. My front runners so far are:

    Barbarian/Ranger main with Rogue support
    Wizard main with Cleric support

What combinations of pure or multiclass characters would work well together?

I just capped my Favored Soul together with a buddy that ran an Exploiter build (Ranger/Monk/Rogue).
Together we could handle just about anything the game could throw at us.

Just a question: How do you handle the 2 characters? You can't really play them at the same time, so what do you do? Do you leave one at the entrance and play with the other?

It depends on the situation. The simplest option is to have a hireling on the 'support' character guarding the main. Cleric is a good choice as then the main's hireling can be something to draw aggro like a melee.

The next level of complexity is to have the support character move up behind the main in stages, stopping at shrines and chests. Have to alternate between characters to do this. Do have to watch out for respawning monsters though. This works nicely with rogues and clerics where you want to actually use their abilities.

The most difficult, which I haven't tried yet, is to keep them as close together as possible so that the support character can be used in combat. Auto attack and a ranged weapon should helpful, possibly AoE spells targeted on the main?

One useful feature is that if things go wrong on the main (which happened to me last weekend) and they get killed then the support character can mount a rescue which means no loss of XP for exiting the dungeon.

Yes I rather thought it might be something like that. Would be nice to see some more exciting suggestions though.

Next life I plan running a half-wiz with cleric dili and a rogue on the second box. Pritty much covers the bases.

This will be my first atempt at dual boxing

    Elite all the way.

Maybe a rogue / bard to handle traps, passing out buffs, Haggling, etc. when you're out of combat; then a DPS build (either melee or magic) to handle monsters?

I dunno, my multitasking skills are bad enough on a single character without the added hassle of trying to manage a second.

If the main is physical dps, How about Arti/Bard instead for elemental weapons buff also.

I tried WF Sorcerer main with Cleric support but it seems I suck at playing sorcerors. Rerolled to Cleric main with WF Arti 2/Wiz 2 support (I already had an Arti main so I was trying out something different. Don't judge me)

    Much better!

The artificer is an excellent secondary fire support character AKA 'Turret': place in suitable spot, switch auto attack on, then occasionally press tab to target mobs. Works like a charm and you get trap disabling too.

Annoyingly this only seems to work with bows/crossbows. Wands won't autoattack - or maybe I'm missing something?

    CLeric+Fvs

Twins that just are great for tanking. turtle tank, use champion's crown, cleric tank with aura. DR+Shields. fvs shoulder cannon for extra damage, add a couple enhancement to your shields and pwn. blade barrier is going to be a pain to use tho LOL
A rogue is basically, "Look at me or die."

WF Wiz/rog (traps, locks, instakills, int runes, firepower, haste, crowd control, self healing)
pure FVS (BB, tanking, DP, raising, insane DR, self healing)

Well there is a reason people dualbox casters to level melee and don't dualbox melee to level casters.

It's a very, very rare quest that the melee is faster in than the caster at level 7+.

So the most COMMON dualboxing scenario is:

    1WF sorc/WF wiz (possibly 1 rog)
    2something
