Check out my Cannith trade list: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php...05#post3574205
I am very disappointed in you... you mentioned three of the most annoying quests in the game, but you left out the one that simply strikes fear into the hearts of every race and class, even bypassing a paladin's immunity to fear.
You did not mention Hold for Reinforcements... I just ran it ten minutes ago and was shocked to see you had not given the respect it is due as an annoying quest!
Is this aimed at me?
If so I think you've got the wrong guy.
My problem is with quests that require computer gaming skills that not everybody has.
My problem is with quests that purport to use character skills {Claw of Vulkoor / Stealthy Repo} that do no such thing.
I've complained often enough that the best way to get through Stealthy Repo is to simply zerg to the end and grab the gem {usually dying harried and triple lightning bolted in the middle of an ice storm straight afterwards}.
I'd love it if quests required you to use character skills {Climb Walls would be an amazing one for this quest - and with rope and hook all D&D characters can climb walls.}.
None of the traps can be disabled by a rogue nor the locks be picked - Yes this is because it's a solo quest but all characters should have ways to do it that DON'T require supeior computer gaming reflexes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aus - You commented in another thread that you've only been playing this game since August {I've been playing the best part of two years now}. Yet you've passed every one of my characters in that time - I'm not an uber gamer, I came to this game from PnP - The only other computer games i've spent any time playing in the past 10
years are Madden {computer does most of the work} and TiF {wasn't very good at that to be honest}.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again my problem with this quest has nothing to do with difficulty {Mobs / traps} but with annoyance of needing computer gamer reflexes and skills that I just don't have.
It's the same problem I have with The Pit, Spies, Coal etc.
Strangely enough My Battle Cleric was the first character I attempted {and Completed} this and Spies on. My Rogue has far more trouble with the jumping in Spies than my Cleric ever had - No idea how this can even be possible {maybe my rogue's jump is too high}.
Hating the thought of taking my rogue into Giant's Vault {again nothing to do with mobs} but of course I will do it someday.
Overall I've found that so far the Dreaming Dark pack has been far easier mobs wise than IQ - Maybe Dreaming Dark itself will change that.
Pretty certain I've already commented in this thread about why I left Coyle out of it but I'll reiterate:
It's the Mario aspect of these quests that I'm commenting on - Coyle is a Protection Quest {a whole 'nother league of annoyance} and has no place in this thread.
hehehe... I've done it both ways and had fun in each. It's actually one of my favorites now and I always stealth it. IIRC, there used to be a requirement in Stealthy Repo that you autofail the quest if you got aggro from anyone. I don't think people ran it very much so they changed it.
Each to his own though.
I apologize. it wasn't specifically aimed at you.
Many people have posted lists of quests they do not like, and in every case it is quests that require doing something other than straight up killing monsters.
There is also a trend to want to solo every quest (on a melee toon). And alot of people complain about certain quests because they have trouble doing so.
Again, I apologize, I tend to make comments based on other threads I have seen over the years, and poke fun at people who can't think outside the greataxe.
(oh...and I hate the mario stuff too. But I know that some people really enjoy it.)
If you take reward to effort ratio into account, then I would say the most irritating quest is Smuggler's Warehouse on hard/elite. Looking for that last box hidden in some nook... could be worth it if you got something other than few hundred xp that Kobold's New Ringleader gets you several times in the same amount of time!
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
"Of course it is. Are YOU going to question beholder's artistic sense?"
... worst "Mario" in the game with beholders giving negative levels everytime you miss a jump.
BTW is there a hireling with restoration or greater restoration?
I just soloed (with hireling) my lvl 18 barb got 16 negative levels and had to spent 20 minutes waiting near the shrine to be able to move properly again
Cogito ergo doleo
At that level, get Althea, lvl 16 FVS. Or look at this: http://ddowiki.com/page/Hireling
My vote is Tomb of the Tormented ... I am a solo player and it is rough. Not because I die, its because I refuse to wear my dorky looking +10 hat of patience. Also, I am a rogue so I bring a cleric with blade barrier with me and I cannot get him to conserve enough spell points to get me through the third part.
Aaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!!!
P.S. I feel a little better now.
I just did an elite Coal Chamber over the weekend, and the way you get pushed back when you jump and wind up falling is infuriating.
I try to avoid jumping most of the time, but sometimes when I run into a ledge, trying to climb on it rather than jump, my character will start to scrabble off to one side and wind up falling anyway.
The climbing/falling is really the only difficult part of the whole quest (though with a caster the lone shrine can be a challenge.)
All on Thelanis: Archenpaul Sixblade (Epic Triple Completionist), Archernicus Thornwood, Crestellin Moonwood, Gregorovic Redcloak, Jaklomeo Evermug, Jarladdin Nalfesne, Jonathraxius Kane, and Praetoreus Silvershield (Heroic Triple Completionist, Epic Triple Completionist.)
Leader of Guinness Knights (Level 165), which is (since June 2021) a two-man, father-son guild.
Cogito ergo summopere periculosus.
The reason I like DDO is the variety. I like mario quests, and I'm glad the developers continue to make PLAYER skill an important factor. I hope they make more.

"Mario"ish quests are great, when they are optional.
The Pit is done right. It's good experience when done quickly, and is a good quest to learn your "mario" skills in. Spies in the House is another example, not quite as good of experience as The Pit, but still decent and completely optional.
Likewise, Raiding the Giant's Vault is good. You can either do Raiding, or you can do Mining for Ancient Secrets to flag. If you don't like Raiding, do Mining instead. If you're a good "mario"er, run Raiding for quick experience and loot/decon bait.
The Crucible and Coalescence Chamber are not as good. Both are a class of quest that many people do not like, and they can be QUITE frustrating when you dislike them since you HAVE to do them to flag.
If the physics problems with jumping and hitting your head and flying uncontrollably sideways are fixed, these quests would be a lot less frustrating.
On another note, Claw of Vulkoor and Last Stand are other quests done right. Claw is a stealth quest, and you get extra exp/loot for doing so. If you dislike or are unable to stealth it, you still have the option to make it a slaughterfest, and still complete.
Last Stand is a protection quest, notoriously a class of quest that is really disliked. However, Viercha is tough, heals himself, and the quest is short enough that even if he dies, it's not costing you too much time.
I find it puzzling that people can find it hard to jump up a ledge / ledges. 90% of the time it requires two buttons, and sometimes a mouse. W, space, and the mouse if you want to do it fast (d and a if you want to do it really fast). Being able to control one's character is essensial if one wants to become a decent / good player.
I don't think it's too much to ask to have a quest that requires character control as a requirement for a flag. It really isn't too much to ask that one is able to control one's character if you want to raid. At least in my eyes.
And I'm going to have to agree with GeneralDiomedes, quests that require player skill are really rare, and I really hope that they introduce more of them.

In a perfect world without lag and crazy physics......
I run this quest constantly, close to if not the best loot/time and reknown/time and best crafting essences/time in the game. I run it in 5-8 minutes (depends on the toon) killing everything, getting both rares and breaking all boxes.
Its one of the quests that is painful until you know how to run it, then its very easy and very fast. Heres a video of my level 16 fighter completing it for xp in 6 minutes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byiC9...zMG2seQ__1A5Fc
