    Fun thread.

I have meleed some on my current wizard. He runs out of sp fairly fast if I just nuke/instakill everything in sight. So +4 attack goggles on, M-touch the weapon and bashbashbash with aura healing me (and damaging opponents). Works fabously, albeit a little slow. If only I could get a torc so I could get some more SP back that way.

Anyway, I'm not sure why anyone would be missing so much, even on elite, with a max str barb. My barb did miss sometimes in the early levels, but very rarely. Korthos set, +4 goggles and shippies make for very high to hit.

I see you don't actually play casters.

I TR'd a sorc into a wizard two weeks ago, first ten levels I was swinging a greatsword and killing stuff just fine, with very few exceptions. Bravery streak was cut off in Enter the Kobold.

Wizards get Web at level 3. Webbed opponents take penalties to their AC.
It seems that you're seeing the low levels as a concerted effort between CC, DPS and heals while power gamers rather treat it as "me, myself and I". Self healing at low levels is done via potions. Differences both in melee outpout and in HP between low level casters and Barbs/whatever are minor (!).
You're not quite as leet as you think, but you would seem a lot less noobish if you stopped stressing how pro you are. Good job with your hireling but i wouldnt tell people who level on their own how to play while your Barb is dragging his heal slave along.

Oh rofl I how could I miss this gem...

Fun fact: My guildie divines, unless leveling a cleric (because clerics get them automatically), pick their first healing spells at around lvl 10 or so.

Before that they use potions to heal themselves. Did the same thing on my bard too.

Low level healing spells are horribly inefficient and CSW potions are plenty of healing with such limited health bars, funny you didn't know that considering how uber you are.

And yeah even with all ship buffs, 2 Fighter past lives, Aid, max STR, +2 weapons, Frenzy, Goggles of Insight, and Bull's Strength, I STILL consistently miss on many high AC opponents in elite quests.

    Right. Okay buddy.

These forums have enough misinformation without your blithering. Everything you've posted is either narrowminded opinion about class roles that you've never played or is straight up wrong.

    Quit while you're behind.

Who are you going to believe: the person who says something can't be done or the people who have already done it successfully?

At low levels, even a Wizard can have a close to unhittable AC if you choose to. You can also use offensive spells to supplement the melee or use melee to supplement your offensive spells. You don't have to use melee exclusively.

Honestly, I'm wondering why you have been having such a hard time in low level quests on your Barbarian. I am just about done my TR of a Fighter and I was able to essentially sleepwalk through quests on elite until Gianthold because of the twink gear that I had available (which is not any different than the twink gear that you could wear if you chose to).

I had fun smashing up my enemies in the low levels on my Wizard. I mostly stopped using two handed weapons at level 5 on my second life because fireball killed everything that I needed to kill, but if some swarm of 10 enemies in a quest on elite happened to have 2 slivered opponents left after a pair of fireballs, then I'd finish killing them with a weapon instead of spending the spell points on another spell.

Yes, Virginia, there really is success with appropriate melee weapons at low levels on a Wizard.

I've just soloed my 100th bravery bonus elite quest in a row with a hireling healer using only three weapons: Carnifex, +2 Holy Maul, and +2 Returning Throwing Axe. Still purist Half-Orc barbarian and I've rarely even come close to dying.

    Carnifex wins.

All your ridiculous arguments to try and justify some other two-hander doesn't even come close to this axe. I can consistently dish out 100+ damage crits to any monster and none of them can take it. Even elite bosses drop in about 5 seconds of me clicking the mouse.

The extent/conviction you spout incorrect facts is astounding. top barb on kyber eh? I bet good gamers with barb toons on kyber would disagree.

My sorc and wiz life on my main I ended with mid 250's elite streaks (mostly solo) before they capped. used carnifex and later sos when need be. I got screenies..do you?

It is pretty easy to get a keen 2 hander to beat Carnifex, just adding Icy Burst to it.

Even my monk with CE/PA on has no to-hit issues on elites (currently at level 10). Heroism pots should help you, try them.

There is no way to explain how much you are hummiliating yourself saying these things. Hypnotism -> Web -> Otto's Sphere -> Mass Hold. That's all you'll ever need
And sorry Iqus, but I wouldn't say you're top 30 (or 50?) on Khyber's Barbarians, and if someone calls a Barbarian to be their tank, I guess that says about as much from their playskill as your noobish rants about Blue Bars say about you (I'm not saying Barbarians can't tank, just that there is no situation where they are optimal (Come disagree with me on this, should be fun)).

I'm done trying to educate you. You're clearly beyond saving. You think you know everything, and thus cannot learn anything. Be happy in your arrogant ignorance and self-delusion. I'll be happy soloing casters through their elite streaks using tactics and strategies you feel are "impossible" or "a complete lie". I have nothing to prove to you, success is it's own reward. One day, when you figure out you don't know everything, you might discover what's really possible, until then...bye.
