Epic Templar's Retribution will prolly be what Divine Vengeance should have been^^ at last we have a holy avenger, it seems.

So with that helm, I realize its a Druid teaser, but is it too much to hope that it could also serve as a nice companion to a new arcane electric spell over level 6?

Light repeater with attack roll off of dex OR int... I like.

I wonder how epic stats are - if they boost crit range to 18-20/x2, damage to 2d6 and add something nice like greater incineration and that light damage proc from handwraps of eternal lag it might become pretty cool weapon for everybody, and amazing for melee divines (still behind esos and exuum, however)

EDIT: Regarding darkstorm helment - if that thing has sup lightning lore epiced, it's pretty cool.
Here I am thinking the staff is something for druid. Fire and light damage are two of the major themes of their spells.

Dwarven Axes are an Exotic Weapon like any other. If you burn a feat on it, you're proficient regardless of race.

Regarding all the non-Epic items, now that we've seen them:

I think it's sad that we have some rather perfect Undead Beaters + Marilith Beaters in there, that when Epic-ed out will be capable of receiving a +7 Augment (since they're already Holy + Silver, or Holy + Cold Iron), but the Scimitar didn't get Cold Iron to make it *perfect* against Running with the Devils at level.

Otherwise, my toons are rather unaffected by these items, I think. New players will possibly benefit greatly from these powerful abilities, but I don't think there's anything I trade out for.

I can see the "wand" dual-wielded in its Epic and Non-Epic form, assuming the levels of Fire absorption are different. Also, I can see a lot of people using it as an off-hand item for Scroll UMDing.

Well it is a F2P adventure pack, so it's a bit understandable that you're not going to want to swap out existing epic or greensteel or raid loot for these. I'm interested in that Qstaff, and a couple other items (particularly the repeaters, since I have an arty). But I don't see it replacing much either.

Right, right. I'm not really complaining. It has some Caster stuff, some Melee stuff, some Divine stuff, and I *suppose* some "rogue" stuff. Nothing for Bards, but that's natural - we know already the Devs hate Bards.

And it's all pretty good at-level, so newer players will benefit. Maybe some who don't even have Potency Items will get to augment their spells, that sort of thing.

Still....the scimitar could use Cold Iron. It's one of the few weapons in this pack that doesn't have a unique metal type, and already has the most niche use.

See. I can do it too, it doesn't make it true.

That said, the game could stand to see a non-Alchemical Epic Dwarven Axe. At least this one also has promise as a DPS item.

Hey, Bards got all of three items specifically for them! Don't be greedy! /sarcasm, since someone will take this seriously.

Maybe, I do like my shenanigans. But I doubt weapons will work through wildshaping and I really doubt they'd let you do the "turn into an ape so I can still use weapons" trick.

That being said, if they implement shillelagh so that's its actually does something useful in DDO, then I will definitely be up to shillelagh shenanigans. And brambles/spikes if we get those too.

Default My thoughts on the new items

Just wanted to pass along my thoughts on the items made available today from the devs.

silver slinger/bow of the silver flame:

Finally something blunt for ranged dmg. add the weaken undead effect and it's got some promise. Holy burst and silver make it a poor mans dr breaker too for those that don't have or don't want to deal with house d ammo. Epic has some real promise especially if it get's greater undead bane.

    Templar's retribution/justice:

Some demon beating love here for some oft forgot weapon types. I have a feeling we will be seeing some more demon's. Once again I think epic should get a greater chaotic outsider bane.

    Fury of the flame:

Poor man's abbot beater. Out classed by far in that department by trip pos gs or calomel but it probably should. Epic version becomes tough if it's as good as the other two it's redundant if it's better it renders those fairly obsolete. Woulda rather seen something like a spiked maul here that did piercing dmg and some kind of good modifier to give thf a way to break rakshasa dr.

    Envenomed blade/doublecross bow:

Seems decent in terms of dmg. Much better to have poison deal dmg versus stat dmg. Most anything fortified in this game is immune to poison however so the armor piercing seems misplaced here. The x-bows sleep effect is also kinda random as it's only good on the third bolt in a volley as a first or second will just get broken by the third.

    Cruel Nobility:

Give it cold iron. Having a way to break ghaele dr more reliably is not a bad thing. Otherwise this actually leaves little use for this weapon. Epic add absolute law and some thing else.

    Luminous truth:

Druid love here. Has some use for acrobat too but clearly meshes well with druid spell selections. Gives evoker type favored souls some good radiance love too. Epic should up the lores to superior.

    Flameward:

Umd on a weapon is unique and fire absorption is never bad. bards/sorcs will find some use here. A plus 7 cha 3 enhancement umd 20% fire absorb epic here would be really nice.

    Templar's Bastion/Templar's Docent:

Dr 5/evil is one of the worst but still has some uses. Light guard is meh at best. Same with SR. This just is fairly plane jane although the glowyness is awesome. The leaked epic I get the same feeling. Rad guard is ok but we have two other fullplate rad guard armors. The dr and sr are even less useful at level 20 +.

    Rakshasa Hide:

A different spot with roar other than the demon queen belt is nice. Another light armor that focuses mainly on ac though is fairly redudant. Add dr 5/pierce here. Epic has some promise for a really high ac type armor like the cove armor.

    Darkstorm Helm:

Druids may fix this some but there is just no use for high level magnetism buffs at this time. Same for negative dmg spells. Possible an arti could get some decent dmg out of the clickie.

    Golden Guile:

Imp deception in a unique slot is something unique at least. That and the high bluff i guess give this some use for a solo rogue on red nameds. On epic you have to compare this to tod set stuff and that's hard to do. Also rogues may like the venom set from fens. This really needs something distinguishing to beat those. Maybe give it armor piercing effect on epic and sneak attack 5.

    Templar's Bulwark:

Same ac as leviks but less dr. The inherent resists are nice effects not found many other places. Good for imp shield bash as it has expanded crit range. Epic has the ability to be the best ac shield in game. Would also like to see it gain metalline/aligned if just to help those with shield bash break dr's.

That bows nice but only with the blunt dmg because well pierce sucks against alot of stuff. If it keeps the blunt then I could see it being usefull. If not then it's just another crappy bow outdone by crafting or GS or the silver bow.
