I think he meant the TR'ing and the veteran status seperately. With tomes being saved through TR now many more people will be willing to TR those +4 tome chars. Veteran level 7 means more new characters made skipping the boring part and getting right to fun stuff like PrE's

I think im going to love this update, faves so far:

- Tomes kept on true reincarnation
- Random ION stone from the Dreaming Dark quest arc
- New level 7 starting for vets woohoo (hope its free to VIP)
- Im hoping the new quests are silver flame favour? If so woohoo. Will help out alot regarding getting silver flame pot favour
- Looking forward to this third quest arc reward, need more info as to what the rewards will be
- Crafting changes look positive

With other total favor rewards, you need to talk to Nyx Durandimion to complete the unlock. I've heard of people who got the FvS favor unlock but didn't talk to Nyx to actually unlock it..and then TR'd and lost the option. I would expect this would work the same way - and since you've already TR'd and no longer have the favor, you'd miss out until you got a 3k favor toon again.

Yes, people being more willing to eat tomes on toons they're planning to TR eventually should definitely drop the prices significantly.

Ooh.. I like this a lot.... wonder if you could make this even more favorable to TR's leveling with a breadth of quests.

Veteran Status 1: Feel free to create new characters starting at level 4.
Veteran Status 2: Feel free to create new characters starting at level 7 and TR'ed characters at level 4. If the character you are TR'ing had 3000 favor - start them at L7.

Now TR lives have both bravery bonus and reTR level7 reasons to run ALL the quests.

I am continually confused about this game. We get great and long asked for changes like the Tome retention but then they slide **** like this into the game. It seems like Congress took over Turbine's development.

How can they expand and give a starter area more love and then turn around and give players more ways to skip those same early levels.

Let's see, we already have players that come out of lvl 4 with no clue how to play a character with just that few feats/abilities, now we are going to let them get to level 7, hit quests like Tear and Haunted Library right away and expect them to cope with those quests...yeah right.

Don't get me wrong, this is nice for people that have rolled and capped dozens of characters but if anyone thinks that a new or newish player will grind out that 3000 favor learning the game and their character instead of buy this from the store is just plane fooling themselves. No other MMO that I know of lets ANYONE skip the begining levels, they are there for a reason, to teach you the basics of your class. It would be like giving someone the option to start at lvl 25 or 30 in LoTRO, do we think that would be a good experiance for new players?

And the change of giving any enemy with sneak attack the ability to automatically bypass fortification is an utter joke! All they have to do is add that ability to the creature and viola, they bypass fort to a certain percentage.

I like so many of the changes it just hurts to see utter **** like this get slid in with it, its like, if you want these nice things like tome retention you have to take this spoon ful of dung with it.

That's what I was thinking, actually.

Vet Status I - Non-TRs may start their characters at level 4.
Vet Status II - Non-TRs may start their characters at level 7; TR'ed characters may start at level 4.

Perhaps, though we might expect the drop rate of tomes to reduce drastically now that they will carry over...

Heh, why offer something once Turbine could get paid for each time? Think of TR+5 hearts that start you off at 5th level. Only 300 more TP than regular TR hearts!

It's in Turbine's best interest to catapult players out of the early levels, and into higher levels which require paid adventure packs to advance.

Except for Korthos, most of the harbor and market seems pretty dreary to me. I'd rather have my first experience with the game be tear and get eaten alive then one of the ridiculous quests about killing kobolds in the harbor.

Since tomes will now be carried through a TR, their value should increase not decrease as they quite literally become eternal enhancements. If everyone who has been hoarding them now has a reason to use them on alts and not just mains, the potential supply will plummet. The AH will be bereft of them as anyone with the cash will buy as many as they can and those who were keeping them as a plat reserve will not part with them. Unless the drop rates increase, expect to see a huge price increase in tomes.

VIP's don't get free vet status now, so I can't imagine they'd get tier 2 vet status for free.
