When you get a chance post your “dxdiag” data (the steps how are in the “how to get help..” sticky linked in my sig) but I would also recommend sending in a tech support request if you haven't already as well.

also seeing as how you're the only poster on the forums griping about granny.dll since the update, you might want to take another look at your system and not blame turbine. Maybe update your video card drivers or do a fresh install of DDO. Free advice from someone who's not a paid PC tech.

After Googling granny2.dll, it appears as though you either have a virus or a problem with your graphics drivers or Windows installation. Seeing your DXDiag report would definitely help us to check on possible driver problems, and would also help Turbine fix things if it turns out to be a problem on their end.

No offense but it sounds like a mess on your own PC.

Asking you to provide a DXDiag is not "beta testing for Turbine." It's a common troubleshooting step. It appears Turbine's even offering to look through the DXDiag FOR you to help pinpoint your issue.

The least you could do is help Mirthgar out just a little bit.

wow... just... wow ... hope you don't kiss your granny with that mouth

this is a pretty standard way of helping.... sending a dx diag does not make you a beta tester ....

I suggest you first run a scan for Virus/Malware on your PC. Then you might try a registry cleaner and/or obtain a replacement for the damaged file. If you look at the length of the file and its 0, that's a good indicator that somethin's wrong with it. Perhaps uninstalling and reinstalling DDO is one way (albeit a very long way) to replace the file if you are unable to get the replacement somewhere else.

It's very likely the problem is on your end, either a damaged granny2.dll file, virus/malware or registry problem. It may well be true that that .dll file originated from Turbine or some other software manufacturer, but it is extremely likely your problem is isolated only to your PC.

If you want anyone of us "users" to help you diagnose the problem and fix it, a DxDiag report is a standard place to begin, as is some explanation of when it happened, and when the last time you successfully played was. We use the DxDiag report to review detailed information about your system and in particular to try to narrow down graphics and other hardware problems, which are typical causes of the type of error you mentioned.

Sorry but I don't work for Turbine either so I can tell you that if you want help from the users in this forum, you'll need to provide more information and cooperation.

    /golf clap

    Very stylish indeed.

EDIT: The thoughts above have been echoed by the 6 folks who are in the Enterprise Desktop Support course that I am teaching this week.

Pretty sure he necro'd his own thread to prove a point. All he's really proven is that help is available though.

Despite seeing the immediate hilarity of this reply, a sobering thought quickly overcame me.

Turbine may hire this guy too.
