Default Wreck? Am I doing something wrong?

    Hi,

The story: I've run the entire house C slayer area about 20 times, killed more that a thousand bad guys, destroyed all those supply crates along the way...and I still have never seen Wreck, let alone pulled those juicy gloves. I know it's a rare encounter, but this is getting ridiculous.

Am I doing something wrong or forgetting something? I checked the wiki for the various spawn points and I kill everything I meet, because I read it increases the spawn rate. And still no dog.

    Can anyone offer any advice?

Ps: I usually duo the area with a buddy of mine, if that matters somehow.

It's Wrack, and he does exist.

He can spawn anywhere in the manufactury, upper level, lower level, around corners etc. Check everywhere, but as far as I know he will not spawn inside a side room. Every time I see him he's out in the open.

Number of people in the instance shouldn't matter, although of course more people looting the chest means a higher chance that the gloves will drop.

    Good luck.

Yeah, his chest will be at one of those spawn points, but seems to be able to be found roaming about any corridor.

    Default Dang!

I found an killed him but for the life of me could not find a chest anywhere nearby. Wish I had known I had to search the whole "wilderness" area for it. Boo!

I used the map on ddowiki.com. Shows Wrack's possible spawn points. I found that the chests ended up somewhere within the corridor he spawned, not necessarily near him. As for how long it took, in about 10 runs, going with a changing group, we found him a good amount of times. Note that he has three, maybe four spawn points, so you have to search a bit.

Do you usually go all the way past the spawn points? I think he patrols. I've seen him 3x so far. I wrote a post complaining he never spawns after doing one of the house C quests and doing what you did. I got him once the first time I went into the manufactury, then no luck for 20+ runs (for _any_ of the rares) after I ran it twice. I got sick of trying to get him to spawn so I decided to flag for the raids. After running power play, on my way to Blown to Bits a couple of days later, he spawned again on the east side spawn point (I check all three points whenever I'm in there.)

Then while waiting for a raid group to fill, I ran slayers again and he spawned again.

The reason I think he patrols is that when I saw him on the west side map and killed him there, the chest spawned at the center point. So if you do see him and there's no chest, check all three spawn points for it. It could be at any of them.

The second time I killed him he spawned on the eastern most point and the chest was also there. I guess the "a watched pot never boils" proverb applies. I've decided to just do my thing in there, and check all the points whenever I'm there. I'm no longer doing slayers over and over just to get him to spawn.

My own pet theory is there's some sort of new mechanic that behaves like ransack, only with regard to the rares. If you run slayers so many times in a given period of time, none of the rares spawn til you come back in a few days, in order to slow down power farmers. Once I ran slayers only once every few days, all of the bosses spawn more often for me when I do happen to find myself there. Usually there's at least 2 if you give it a few days. 2-3 runs, after a couple of days of not running it, usually gets me all of them, then they simply won't spawn again no matter how many times I run it.

This could simply be probabilities and coincidence, but none of them spawn for me if I simply run slayers over and over, after the first few slayer runs, once I've gotten them all.

    I still haven't pulled goggles :-/

I'd come back in a few days and see what happens. Check all of the rares when you do and see if you see a similar result. Even if you don't need the loot, it sells for over 1000 plat (or if you are with people you can assign it to your party mates if they don't have it) if you pull a named item, so it's not a waste of time to go after all of the rares when you are in there.

Those are my observations and theories. I'm probably completely wrong, but that's what I'm seeing on the 3 different characters I currently run in there.

    QFT

I've killed him near his chest and half way across the map from it. I think he patrols the main corridors from elevator to elevator. I don't know if he can use the elevators before you activate them yourself or not.

I did kill him on the west side of map once pretty far from the west side spawn location, and his chest spawned at the middle spawn location.

He is definitely annoyingly rare, and having 3 possible locations doesn't help. In the last 3 days, I've looked for him 27 times, checking all 3 spawn points (I know he moves, but his chest doesn't). I've found him twice, both times at his northwest spawn point. Got Legendary Victory in his chest both times, which was nifty, but I would rather have the gloves . . .

    Extremely rare in my opinion.
I guess I made over 20 Cannith Manufactury runs and saw Wrack only about 3 times no gloves.
The other rares are equally rare for me too.
I run all the way to the south of Bulat near shrine just in case he wanders there too and I think I saw the chest down there once.

Up until then I was running myself with hireling. I took a guildy who has incredible loot luck and on the second attempt Wrack appeared running towards us near the melting station...
The chest was in the north west and of course he got the gloves first time.
Next day we did a few more runs and again we get a wrack after a few attempts and he got the fabricator gloves again - which he kindly passed to me

So if you want the gloves bring someone who's loot lucky
I have a theory that taking a new alt who is fresh to the area may also work too.

Similar thing thing happened with Cannith boots. He joins and gets them after 3 tries. I get mine after about a dozen attempts.

You should have run Schemes of the Enemy on Elite.

As for the Gauntlets, I don’t think they can drop for the first person to open Wrack’s chest.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

    just to keep you hoping!

ran looking specifically for wrack as i do occasionally. In the hundred or so trips in there he doesn't seem to spawn frequently. anyways, yesterday found him on second level, was the only rare to spawn that run. As this is an unusual occasion (finding him) i called in guildies to come loot chest with me as i have been wanting the gloves for some time. out of 5 of us, we pulled two pairs ( i pulled my own, didn't have to beg).

    anyways,

    good luck!

Took my level 18 Cleric out there to try out a new "Cannith-ready" greataxe I had crafted just to see how well it worked. Guess who I saw on my first run? Didn't get anything good, though, just some **** loot and crafting mats.

    Default Dittoing Above

I'll just chime in and also say it's a matter of time. Like the OP, I soloed and cleared out House C Manufactury quite a few times. Wrack only appeared 3 times (including the very first time I entered the zone). The third time was the charm and I got those nice, nice gloves.

PS About the third time I reached his spawn point, I ran into Stellite and immediately popped the Magewright Goggles. And then the first time I soloed Power Play (on casual) I popped the cloak. It's a pity my guy is a paladin. :-/

So . . . just to make sure I'm just on another bad luck streak and not completely wasting my time . . . Wrack is still appearing since Patch 3, right?

I'm at 36 solo runs through the manufactury without seeing Wrack since U12.3. (I keep a character stationed right outside the gate and do a quick 5 minute run every time I start playing and every time I stop playing.) In those 36 runs, I've ransacked 2 of the other rare encounter chests and must be close to ransacking the 3rd, have more alchemist's crowns and but haven't even seen Wrack. (My total numbers on Wrack attempts, including the runs before patch 3, are 102 attempts, 6 Wrack sightings, 0 gauntlets.)

I'm fine with the overall droprate being low for such a useful item, but I really hate how rare the spawn is. I much prefer something like the desert rares, where at least you get the satisfaction of killing something and the excitement of opening a potential bloodstone/ss chest every couple of runs.
