Default An idea for the expansion - new weapon

Slashing has greatswords and greataxes. Bludgeoning has mauls and greatclubs. Piercing has nothing for two-handed weapons.

How about adding a brand new weapon to DDO?

    The two-handed pick

This would fit the underground theme of the expansion and seems like it would be easier to animate than other two-handed piercing weapons like spears.

What about spears, lances and other pole arms? Or spiked chains?

Instead of the 2-handed pick, which is not in the basic players hand book, they could just add in a scythe.

    Scythe:
    2-handed
    2d4, 20/X4
Damage type: slashing and piercing (so ddo would most likely simplify it to piercing, since that was what they did to another multiple damage type weapon, though I can't remember which one right now)

THF does need pierce....I'd be in favor of a pike.

Hey barbarian what are you doing?

    I'm over here piking!

Yes, surely the pike is the absolute best weapon that could be added to DDO.

I believe slashing, because some were vorpal. Horc Pale Master in Wraith Form with a Scythe... Hmmmm..

Im +1'ing to the spears/lances/polearms. I was actually rather disappointed when I found out after looking to buy these weapons in the game, that they werent even in the game.

It's not like they aren't able to add multiple damage types to a weapon - look at Rahl's might. Whether they should is the question. Also, not sure which PHB version you're reading off, but I think scythe is slashing OR piercing, rather than "and", meaning you could call the type of attack in PnP - much like daggers and halberds. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/weapons.htm#scythe If they do simplify it, slashing makes the most sense, not piercing.

The one that got simplified, which you might be thinking of, is morningstar (though it's not like anyone actually uses them anyway).

@OP: It's a decent idea, though not particularly pressing, because the monsters with some sort of piercing DR aren't horribly common, even less so in DDO. So using a piercing two-hander would be a liability more than a boon. For the aesthetic value though, why not, I'd like to see more people use weapons other than oversized kitchen knives (aka DDO khopeshes) and greataxes. Though honestly, I'd much rather see reach weapons. They're making a full-blown expansion, so they could invest into a handful of new models and animations for the players, no?
