Nothing is free to VIP's silly, they all pay monthly, and should they stop paying they lose all the benefits, therefore, despite the advertising, nothing is free to VIP, do what I do, go premium and use favor to buy everything (I have all the packs/races/classes) then things will occasionally be free.

Yea... if it is too much, I won't be getting it. I simply don't have the money. I already stretch it thin getting my regular subscription. Oh well... Have fun with your new expansion.

You know, thing is... NW is being produced by the guys responsible for Perfect World. So it could end up being the Typical Chinese MMO #108526707 with DnD skins. In that case, I'd rather play DDO.

They haven't said. But every other class is either included or unlocked with favor.

Wait... I just have to send Turbine some cow paddies (aka dung) and I get to play for free?

I didn't actually click the link... just reading the link. Safer that way.

To the OP: No, it has to be be purchased.

Links to several interviews and articles can be found in this thread.

If I'm reading it correctly Druid will be included in the expansion if you buy it, but it's not free to VIP.

It's early days yet to pretend we have any real answers. Let's just hope the Devs continue their recent willingness to talk with us in the forums.

But I already cancelled VIP anyway, when they made liars out of themselves with Artificers, so I guess it doesn't matter much to me.

and that is the point in a roundabout way I was making in the other thread....... its all a play on wording..... House C was added to DDO .... it EXPANDED the area in DDO .... so really all adventure packs are expansions.... just worded differently.

A VIP membership to a gym stays the same , even if the gym 'expands' the building to add new stuff.....

same applies here.... or it should....

another thing is with our purchased classes..... they should never be able to nerf or change something that you bought from them how it was released and created by them.

you don't see the car dealers nerfing your mustang after you bought it the way they made it...

I bet there is some legal grounds on stuff we bought , even though it's "virtual stuff" . The fact is our money is paying for the creation of all this new stuff and when we buy something outright DDO should not be able to change it.

They need to make it the way it is intended and working properly before they roll it out live and for sale.

Yeah, but quite often there are separate fees for the new pool or tanning beds.

I have absolutely no problem paying for an expansion- it helps fund more development which in turn keeps a good player base. But I'll probably let others check it out first to make sure it's worth it... it seems like for each thing we are given there is an equal and opposite thing taken away so I'll be watching player reviews to see how it is before purchasing.

true to a point..... there was a day that VIP meant something.... think those days are long gone.

I will purchase this new "pack" aswell and it should have druid included with it to all that purchase it.

but i will be waiting till it's on sale..... few months after release , like arti's ... after i purchased that...

Sure, but half a year later, and you'll have to spend a week without sleep in a room full of yelling kobolds doing repetitive tasks to earn favor for it.

OMG this again. ViP's feel that they are the end all and be all, when they aren't. Yes you get most content for "free" and have to shill out a little extra here and there to get everything. You know what, that's capitalism for you, you should know by now that EVERY FREAKING COMPANY that wants profit is trying to get your money.

Expansions are just that, something WORTH buying, something that fits outside the norm of patches and updates, and I suspect the whole reason EVERYBODY has to pay for it if they want to use it is just that, because it's not just an update but an EXPANSION.

Look at every other MMO that does well, they release expansions ON TOP OF the monthly fee, and there is no microtransaction system when it comes to unlocking content. ViP's have it pretty good here, and frankly it's starting to sound childish that ViP's cry and complain every time they don't get their way come every update.

P.S. Yes I'm aware that the terms ViP we're promised are posted all over the place and that they didn't uphold "their" end of the bargain. That being said, they have every right to change those terms, just as much as people cancelling their subs, or continuing on. Becuase in the grand scheme of things, shelling out a few extra bucks once in a while (rarely) shouldn't matter too much. And if your hurting for cash that you can't shell out a few extra bucks, then why are you paying for a sub in the first place.

And if it happens to be no more than a regular update, THEN go ahead, be my guest and complain. Reserve that judgement for when we have more info.

Wrong. NWN is being created by Cryptic, people who did City of Heros (before selling it off to NC Soft), and are doing Champions Online and Star Trek Online.

Perfect World Entertainment (PWE) has bought/wholly owns Cryptic.

Currently this is my guess. Character creation will kick Turbine's axe hugely, but due to 4.0 and how I've seen Crypic handle things, expect that to be the best thing about the game.
I have seen zero game play of their implementation of 4.0 so... have to wait and see. It will have user created content possible via the Foundry system, so I doubt you'll ever have a darth of XP. No cue on loot.

The roughly $60 was the pre order price for Lotro Isengard that came with lots of cosmetic, horses, and other items as an incentive for pre purchace. The actual expansion was about $30-$40.

Skyrim collector stuff went on sale for what? $75-$100? *shrugs* I'm not seeing "insanity" here at all. Just some raging based on largest number seen without understanding what the number was.
