    Default Permanent hireling

So yesterday I was in a lagtastic Inferno of the Damned.

Things were going terribly: acolytes dying half way across the map, no one brought ice effects for the torches, etc. - a typical run, when suddenly....

    Massive lag spike.

Everyone is frozen in place with a fire elemental blasting away.

We all stood around chatting (the chat server remained active) anticipating our eventual fiery death when everyone in the quest simultaneously dc'd.

Quick login, but its too late - we all find ourselves outside the gate to the orchard.

We discuss the situation and talk about reforming only... no one has the star.

    We are leaderless.

Ok, weird. Not really a big issue just a strange bug.

We talk about reentering, but its late and folks are frustrated.

Everyone drops and I find myself alone with the hireling.

    Wait, what?

I was alone with the hireling in a public space.

I look around and don't see him (public instance) so I step into the orchard.

He's still in the party but no where to be seen.

I run to Inferno (not active) and step inside. He's not there.

At this point I should also clarify that he is not even my hireling.

He belonged to one of the folks who dropped group.

I have no way to summon or control him (he's a total piker).

I try to drop him (can't).

I recall to a public space and try to drop him again (nope).

I'm trapped in a party with a phantom hireling, unable to join other parties...

    Last option - logout.

I leave, switch characters, switch back and....

    He's finally gone.

Crisis averted; just another day in the orchard I suppose...

    ...

I think there is some causation with you being in the Inferno of the Damned and being stuck with an eternal hireling!

Just be lucky when you were sleeping afterwards there wasn't somebody in your room shaking you awake telling you he required healing!

A guildie of mine got the same bug once, except the hireling somehow had the star, so he couldn't even invite other people to the group.

Sometimes when I join a pug, I get the same feeling
Male Fairy: "Dont cry my dear. You know what I do when I'm sad?"
    Felicia Day Fairy: "Look douchy..."

Been into the Inferno (Hell) and back?
    Are you sure you're back?
Have you ever watched The 6th Sense or Constantine?
    Are all these replies real?
    Red Forum Skin?
    I don't care...
