If you want to dominate as a melee in damage just play on random LFM groups with casual players who aren't experts in DDO like those on this forum. Spellcasters have a higher ceiling but are much harder to play well. But yeah in a full group of expert players spellcasters dominate endgame. Melee is just as good though up until arcanes get all their insta death spells. Hey atleast the game is fun up until lvl 14-15ish...after that everything will be dead before my kensai gets to it. And hey melees are still awesome in end game raids.

    I don't get it..

    - My barb is often nr 1 on the kill list (now don't tell me that we melees only get kills from killsteals )

    - The casters in the groups I'm in a often the first to die.

Guess I'm always running with the wrong casters then? Or the wrong healers who prefer keeping the melees alive, instead of the casters?

Of course, I'm not going to deny that casters do awesome damage. Single attacks will even do way more damage that melee attacks, but how about sustainable dps? Even if casters spam everything they have, they will eventually run out of SP, whereas melees will attack as long as they're alive. Usually the casters running out of SP happens sooner that the melees dying. (I know you can chuck pots, but you get my point..)

I completely disagree mate and we have played a lot together. You have been playing with my barbarian zahathum, now try joining a run with my caster and you'll feel utterly useless in any epic, in fact I don't need a party for quite a lot of epics, I sometimes invite people for the end fight and free epic chests but that's it.

The sad part is the wizard is a first life toon with 43 necro dc (hell hit 45 on 2nd life, possible 46 with a +4 tome) and nothing special gear-wise, the barbarian is an n'th life with an esos , emc and other cool stuff though he is yet to hit 20 this life. There's something wrong with the game if one class can solo dominate epics , duo/trio raids and do everything better then anyone else without the need for other people (mmorpg anyone ?). The funny thing is i see excuses like "because casters are harder to play , require more skills". Are you ******** ? Were you born stupid or something ? Therese nothing challenging intellectually in hitting one button killing everything or using the combo of debuff+sod+wail, fod'ing strugglers. There's even a claim that running around BB/FW/... like a ****** with ADHD , sorry I meant kitting around, is challenging intellectually. If that's true i give up all hope for the humanity.

I like playing my caster, soloing epics, recently running 15 mins all caster eChronos, but should it mean i keep pretending everything is alright ? Some people that are claiming everything is as it should be here are so unreal and nonobjective to me, reminds me of that funny guy Muhammed Saeed al-Sahaf.

I agree with you when we're talking about epics. I realize that when I do epics on my barb, I'm almost always "outkilled" by the casters, and I feel like I might as well pike and just run to the end chest ^^

However, I wasn't referring to epics. What I said is what I found to be true throughout the rest of the game.

(Maybe it's hard for me to be objective on this, as I suck as a caster :P)

It is understanable that casters are more popular (and thus more popular) then melees. Casters soak up mana pots from the DDO store. Do I mind that this is the reality? No ... this game is a business. Should I play what I want and screw the rest... sure, this game should be fun.
