Default Tried support, still issues loading. Help me out :D?

    Hi.

I can log in, but after the picture with the pretty dragon and all it tries to connect 20 times and then goes "failed to connect, client timed out" or something like that.

I tried the things on support.turbine. It's not my firewall, not my security program, none of those things.
    I deleted and reinstalled.

    What next?

    Please help me out!

Sounds like you've already done some troubleshooting work on your home LAN.

If I were in your shoes, I'd try to get a friend with a laptop (or their whole rig) to come and plug in on your network and see if they get the same thing. If you have another computer, try loading DDO there and see what you get. You know - isolate whether or not it truly is your rig or your network that is the problem.

A common tie to client connection issues is .NET. You may want to try reinstalling .NET on your rig, and see if that makes a difference.

It won't download on my housmate's computer. So far for testing if it's my laptop or the network. Tried a bunch of other things, windows fix and downloading that NET stuff.

What does seem strange to me is that I can't seemingly do a normal clean boot, because if I unselect all in msconfig and reboot everything is still selected in msconfig. So my clean boot might not be clean?

Eugh. Not sure. You may have some other issues at play.

You may want to check with your internet service provider. Or, perhaps look again at your firewall configuration.

If you can't connect, and you also can't get to DDO's net to download the client, there might be some sort of block or content filtering at play. *shrug*

Really not sure. Good luck, though!

Is it possible a virus is doing that?

I would run through the sticky here and also the kb article here following those up with a tech support request if you didn't already send one in.

    haha!

I tried all that , and none of it neccesary. I think

It was a virus. I hadn't scanned my pc in a while, or it was something else that was fixed by avg cleanup. Yay!

I have the same problem here. It use to work before today 1-24, after like 5 tries it finally connects. Then the next day is here and it never connects. It never had this problem before all the updates every three months. Now it does not load! I use to play all the time before but went to another game and never came back for awhile. I visited and got every patch update installed as it came out, I just did not play. My computer is not the problem its DDO side period. I can play every other MMO installed on my computer without any problems EVER.

Im just glad I didnt shell out some $ for the 20% discount for the packs, which I WAS going to tomorrow. Thanks for up tonight. I dont send tickets bc they dont care if just a few players thats having problems. Its about 10-20x the amount of players thats having problems , they just dont come here and complain. They look for the answer if there's none they uninstall.

If its not fixed after tomorrow's update...{patch} This game will join LOTRO uninstalled and forgotten. <<<< Realms<<<<< will be released with exploits that will make the wrong kind of players richer, just like every other update HAS!

My Computer has a very good cleaner , scanner that runs once a week every week. Its not a VIRUS. Mines CLEAN and I'm Sober.

There are multiple causes of connection issues not all of them are malware based, I would strongly recommend taking my advice from the reply above, and in addition to those articles submit a tech support request if you have not done so yet, they can troubleshoot connection issues much more in-depth than can be done in the forums.

If you elaborated on exactly what's occurring as well in your reply here it might go a ways towards clearing up when its disconnecting, what might be occurring and how etc based on specifics like behaviors, messages and time of day it occurs. Connection issues, especially periodic ones like this can sometimes manifest in similar ways but can have completely different root causes.

You'll have better luck starting your own thread instead of hijacking someone else's.

This. Please start a new thread so others could help focus in on your problem.

(And, DDO runs fine on the latest operating systems and hardware, I'd bet more than likely your problem is likely to be a connection issue or something with your PC configuration/hardware. Readers of this forum would need more details to help you further.)

You say it does. The forums account for at best 10% of the player base on any game. The problem is real. I will say LAST time "its not my computers fault"! BECAUSE it WORKED before the last UPDATE on the 24th.

NOTHING has changed on my COMPUTER. No updates No changes.

I will say AGAIN.............It worked B4 the last update. THE DAY B4 i PLAYED the game and spent the last of my TP's on 2 packs. Did you get that?

Stop TROLLING and why would I want to start a new thread that will ONLY attract more TROLLS like you.

If they want to help out the players that ARE having problems with windows 7 and soon to be windows 8..........that DDO AS OF RIGHT NOW WILL NOT WORK ON...WINDOWS8 cannot run DDO. DDO cannot run on Windows7. Not mine.

So get it up to DATE to be able to let all the customers to be able to play your game.

As of right now after the last udate../......................I'm not alone here. Most or all the players just will move on if it does not load properly, Only the will say it works fine , its your fault. Just in hopes they will give it a try.

I have had over 10 of the newest . bigger BETTER games that DL'd and worked on my Computer., The day before the last update, IT WORKED ON MINE!

That makes it sound exactly like a firewall issue. Firewalls dont like it when programs are modified.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

Hmmmm....Trying not to LOL but ROFL........ sorta cause that was the first thing I did was check the Fire Wall. I re-established it, in allowing DDO to go through again.

I even disabled it and tried. Why do people who are trying to help, I think they are. See the year 2006 when I joined First. That means I pretty much would now about The Fire Walls and how they can effect MMO's and and and. I dont know programming but I do know HOW to get EVERYGAME I have DL over the years since 1997 UO to be able to LOAD and PLAY except DDO.

I have had this trouble before with the game but it always after a few hours of frustration worked. I find it very irritating how a game can work right before an update and then not work right after it.

Its happened with other games BUT....there Support team had the fixes out and ready to DL within 12 hours. They acknowledge there were problems out there and where working on a fix.

How EVER this game does NOT. Its like oh well IDC to bad so sad. Its I wonder why they had togo to F2P. Item mall ...stores...Is the way of the Future in MMO's. So is customer SERVICE.

They know there problems but they think its the USER's problem not there's.

The only way I can ever play again, is if they FIX there end to be able to play with Windows7 at a 100% playability. Its not.

To the player above...I did what you did and checked for anything in there. Nope nothing was in there about DDO. Glad yours is working.

I have read and done everything possible to get it BACK workng. Like B4 your last update on 1-24.

It gets stuck on the opening launcher it says in the upper left hank corner "opening main form" then after a bit the next screen says "Web exception" the operation has timed out. Hit OK

Then it says "installing pre-requisite software"

gets stuck on "Downloading EN screen3 "

    FREEZES never goesa anywhere else.

Before yesterdays update ^^^ it got past the "Downloading En screen3" after a few minutes and it finally connected and went through the steps and I could sign in.

TODAY it does not. I have done eveything that was ..is listed to do in hopes of getting it to work. Nothing YOU all have listed to do WORKS.

I know I'm not the only 1. I run operating system Windows 7.
You TURBINE needs to get with the program!
Update your SYSTEM so the NEWER , BETTER , the FUTURE ...Windows 7 & 8 that will allow us with the better operating systems to be ableto play your GAME DDO.

What else needs to be said.. PERIOD

A similar thing just happened to me. Mine worked fine yesterday also.

I'm running Vista on this machine (/puke) and was stuck on a patch error screen.

start task manager and kill all turbine related processes. For some reason I had to kill a false client ( like it started to load or something), and the launcher.

Restarted launcher and worked great the second time.

    good luck

I dont need this HEADACHE. Game uninstalled. Everthing about Turbine has been deleted. Dont worry be happy, there is TO-MANY other MMO's out there that WORK perfectly fine with my computer.

Its the only way it can be or I will relive this nightmare everyday. Might try again after Forgotten Realms released and then another few months till they get it working right so ALL of us can play and enjoy DDO. Until THEY get there together and fix issues that will let all the NEW...BETTER operating systems to work. These old systems .... Windows2000, windowsXP, and all other OUTDATED systems this game catered to in 2006 need to UPGRADE there computer. Sorry but its true if you run those. Time to upgrade.

Its 2112 get with the program Turbine. You all know windows 8 will not work you better plan for that or your gonna miss out on a bunch of potential customers.

If you had posted a launcher log, or even tried to contact technical support directly (as is detailed at the top of this support forum these forums are for player to player assistance not direct support), the issue causing the game to be unable to connect on your system may have been resolved. Please note that I did attempt to assist and made some recommendations to try beyond just the firewall and malware checks.

As this thread was derailed and becoming aggressive rather than helpful or containing any requests for assistance I will be closing it. As of right now just so that you are aware although Windows 7 is not 'officially' supported, it does run and function with a minimal of issues on it currently that relate directly to it being on Win7. As to 8 I cannot and will not speculate regarding an operating system that is still in alpha stages and is not even released.

I strongly suggest you follow up on a direct technical support request for more assistance if you so desire or require it.
