    Default The Ranged Capable Rogue

    Hello. We had some downtime, so I drew up a build I am thinking about playing. After capping a bard aa and a monk aa, I started thinking about adding some sneak attack damage to my next 'experiment'. Now of course I do not want to hinder the rogue's awesome melee damage, so I knew I also had to work in G2WF. I also like to have some sort of cc whenever possible, therefore, I chose to take a bard level for fascinate. Originally, I wanted to use the half elven bard dellitantte, but I could not justify the build points for charisma 13. The artificer and the barbarian delitantte's were my options after I chose my starting stats based on what I wanted. I also wanted to max out intelligence for assassinate, but the loss of 7 rogue levels really hurts, and as I was building this character, I decided to take a look at the other rogue prestiges. I figured Mechanic would work well with this build. With improved precise shot, repeater crossbows with int damage, manyshot, slaying arrows, excellent two weapon fighting, and high sneak attack damage, double bluff timer, haste boost IV, and human versatility III, this character is an AOE dps machine. The problem is that this guy is also very hp deficient. Get everything you can to boost your hp. On the other hand, you have many ways not to get hit. Bluff is your friend; use it, and use it often. Stealth and fascinate are EXTREMELY useful, although, many groups will not wait for you; use them to your advantage anyway. If you are diligent, you will find ways to do this effectively.

    For the novices:

    I think this build could be very user freindly for newer player. The only drawback is not having the right bows and crossbows redily available. You can get the silver bow at the church and the cult, and keep your eyes open at the ah for paralyzers, smiters, banishers, and disruptors. Cursespewing, shattermantle, and destruction will hopefully come right about when you need them. If you do not have half elf, your build will be different, but it could work with elf. Don't worry about int, and focus on strength; you will also have to drop bluff, which significantly reduces this build's durability, but is still feasible.

    For the veterans:

    I cannot tell you how to run your toons, because I still take guidance from you. Seriously, I would really like some feedback. The only thing I can say to make you take me seriously is that each player has his/her niche. Most of the characters I have held enough inerest in to cap are ranged and/or specialist type characters. When I TR them into something else, they tend to sit on the shelf for a bit. Therefore, I have come to the conclusion that specialist characters are my forte. My viewpoint comes from the possibility of having bard and fighter past lives with anthem / greensteel items TRing into something like this. To hit in epic, I know I would have to use human versatility attack whenever I wanted to melee, and use sneak attack whenever possible.

    For everyone else:

    Just have fun! Take your inspiration from wherever you can find it, and just roll with it. This post is really for you guys. Good times! Love ya... mean it!

    See my Triple A build. I didn't go for Mechanic and I took a ftr splash instead of bard, but the basic idea is the same.
    Semi-retired Build Engineer. Everything was better back in our day. Get off my lawn.
