LFMs and Difficulty

I see this happen sometimes, and I'm going to say something about it.

If a party leader puts up an LFM, they'll likely list difficulty. If not, when you hover over the Quest name, the difficulty will be there.

If an LFM is up for a difficulty you don't want to run it on? Make your own.
You join, ask difficulty, and it's not what you want to run it on? Leave, and make your own.

But my LFMs are not a debate class. And I highly doubt anyone else puts up an LFM with a difficulty above, or below, what they actually want to run it on.

Anyways, it's a minor pet peeve, that I get over quickly and advise you to also.

I will never "get over" people's inability to read the language with which they have grown up with.

That's less the concern. More the concern is that after being told what difficulty the quest is intended to be run on, said person continuing to try to cajole/lobby for a different difficulty.

Right click, dismiss. If they want to run on elite, when the LFM said normal, let them make their own group.

"Plz" is a pet peeve of mine. I'm far more likely to be more tolerant of someone who actually types out "please" than someone who says "plz." But yes, someone joining a "already done, come loot" LFM who asks for buffs deserves a boot. Also, another instance where I will boot someone is if they click an LFM and then their first words are "what quest are we doing?"

It's not uncommon at all for like, the LFM to be set to one quest, while the text says another. Occasionally /who reveals the party members to be in yet a third adventure.

If the person in question where this observant, and had a genuine concern about an LFM discrepancy, he would have likely sent a tell to the group leader asking before joining in 99% of the time. (1% to lazy to use the tell, but he'd likely state "Which quest are we doing because your lfm says this, but the text says that...")

Yes, that's the kind of nonsense up with which I will not put. Up. With.

But anyway, yeah. My party, my rules, Your party, your rules. Anyone who jumps in a quest on a difficulty other than what I have decided, and doesn't apologize immediately, honestly, and preferably with an offer of recompense, is probably going to get Blacklisted.

Myself, I will usually poll the group as to difficulty when doing a raid just for completion, especially HoX or VoD, but I'll state my intention to do so in the lfm text.

That said, when I see "Normal" when I mouseover, I never assume that's what it's going to be, unless I see it in the text box, too. Default is just that.

Also the inability of people to read or understand the LFM never ceases to amaze me (the reason we have just wiz/sorc/bard is because we want CC, your AA kensai with 1 wizard doesn't count). That said, I have seen worse things, like the occasional raid listed for normal, and than the group leader figures with 2 healers he can run hard so changes the LFM when we are half full without telling anyone.

You never know who is behind "Superbarbarian", it can be a guy used to putting LFMs up or a newbie. Better make sure about his intentions than waste 30 mins for the party to fill and realize he's going to run Casual Kobolt Asssualult for Favor and Loot.

not on sarlona - not for a while now- but wanted to share my personal encounter with this

running adq1 at level going for streak (its awesome xp as well!) my lfm read: adq1 on elite streak friendly be flagged if you want to raid after wards (with the quest in the box on elite)

first pugger: hi! could i get a share plz?
Me: cant share, but you can come for awesome xp.
Pugger: ok. never done it, but I listen well and follow directions
me: ok (blah blah blah walk him to the quest and we start)

Lfm has been modified to ip at this point

We clear the center and start on the first hall and we get another caster.

Caster: hi! i just need this for flagging - do we have to do it on elite? casual or norm is much faster!
Me: no
Caster: Its gonna take forever to do it on elite!
Me: Ok. first off, the lfm said elite. 2nd off, We are in on elite right now. 3rd, this is my group, and I am the cleric. if you dont like it, leave.
Caster: wow you have a real attitude problem. you must not group much.
Me: goodbye (remove)

Then the newbie and I proceeded to finish the dungeon. I was quite impressed and invited him to join my guild

I think part of the problem is premium people on a first-life that don't realize that you don't really need to worry about bravery bonuses and streaks when all you need is 1.9 million exp who want to try and maintain an elite streak but can't without help. Not saying this is a good reason, just saying that I think it's the cause of most of the quest difficulty drama.
