Pure light monk, human, Jidz-tetka, lots of healing amp, robes of invulnerability, path of the monkey. That'll give you a lot of survivability.
Why go with a watered down monk? Go pure, monk dps is not raw numbers, it's a cumulative effect.
Hello, hope all is well. And if it isn't, sorry about that.
Please see the DDO Wiki's article that summarizes the Monk class. http://ddowiki.com/page/Starting_a_Monk
As others noted, a Monk is most powerful when NOT multiclassed. Those who add Monk levels typically add only 2 levels to get the prized Evasion feat that's granted, then level in other class. If you don't know anything about the Monk class, you will certainly create a poor character until you learn what the Monk does.
In short, the Monk is an unarmed fighter. What differentiates him from all other melee classes are the ability to add elemental damage to strikes at will, using ki, an energy similar to spell points except they regenerate as you hit enemies or are hit. Monks can combine the elemental moves to form finishing moves that perform special abilities, including shooting fire, preventing a party from being stunned, blurring, conserving spell points, cursing an enemy for more vulnerablity, striking down an enemy with a 500-point damage burst, paralyzing an enemy, or charming them. They don't wear armor and are far more mobile than other melee classes.
