    Default 36 pt Wizard/Rogue

I am trying to plan out a final build for a wizard/rogue combo, I am probably going 18/2 as I think there is little need for more than 2 levels. I base that off one I have currently leveling right now that is in the teens, and what others have said plus looking at a character builder.

I know it is not the most popular thing, but I think I want to keep him a fleshy, so I was looking at one of the int races, since it would raise my DC by one. Losing the wizard cap stone is a concern for me, so I am wounding with solid gear do you need past lives of fvs for the spell pen, or can you cap without it?

I have a +1 exp and a +2 exp int item already, as well as a +4 tome for int from a ToD on hard. Also my Rogue skills are capped if I use an eUtility Vest with Great Nimbleness socket which I have, and a eSpy Glass.

I am not sure if I want to go PM or AM as I have little experience playing anything other than a AM and only that to the mid teens. I know that people play PM in epics and in the end game, but I am not sure how much better or worse they are than Am wizards.

I have several sets of epic items waiting to be built, but I have not yet since they do not update when updates come out. So the Illusionist Robes, Ring of Elements, and several more I can not remember off the top of my head are able to be used if I want to use them.

There is also something I have found that you can build too far into utility that you lose focus and direction. I am wondering if it would be worth taking the bard past life feat as this build or would could it be better used with taking another toughness?

18 Wizard 2 Rogue is all that is needed to get the necessary rogue skills and evasion which is why it is so often suggested. If you want to stay as a fleshy race then PM is usually the better way to go because of the self-healing while in undead form.

It isn't hard to hit cap with this but later if you want to do very high end content then it will be harder without either good gear to compensate or past lives in classes that provide extra spell penetration. In either case taking both spell penetration feats is pretty important.

So would it be safe to say that if I took some FVS Past lives that I would be able to reach that spell pen that I lose or get close to it anyways. That would free up feats for other things.

What is the spell pen cap, enchant DC for epics, and damage spell DC for end game content?

You should aim for 30+ spell pen, 40+ DC. FvS passive past lives and Wiz passive and active past life feats are key.

Thanks for the break down MrFister, now I need to sort my stuff and see how close I can get to that with gear, and how many past lives I will want.

I prefer WF for this, but if you insist on fleshy, then Human Pale Master 18/Rogue2.

PM makes a good generalist caster as Lich boost INT and so DC of all spells. Lich in most areas, 'natural' in areas with lots of light damage and use UMD (scrolls, wands) to keep yourself alive.

Human for extra feat (easier to squise in spell pen/focus and PL feats), not too squishy, with enhcancement only -1 INT behind Drow, HV boost is nice for skills and saves.

Another trick with Lich is that its safe to use Yugo INT pots for extra +2 INT and so another +1 spell DC. So thats +4 INT (2 lich, 2 pot). Gives you spell DC thats very close to specialist Archmage.

Plan for Past Life:Wizard. Mobs with SR are your biggest nemesis in high level quests.
