    Default Leveling Gear Questions

I plan on TRing soon and would like to egt some gear together NOW as to make it quick and painless as possible.

What gear would you recommend to keep AC as high as possible on a Dark Monk AC build for leveling purposes.

I know Icys, Armor Bracers, but what else?

I am going for 3 lives of Monk, so I'll be using this gear quite a bit.

    Thanks in advance.

once you get beyond level 14 or so you'll have your raid & shroud gear available again so i'm focussing on the low level stuff.. i'd recommend the abiashi set from chronoscope, stalwart trinket from cove if you have it, a little later some of the red fens gear (the necky/belt set that gives insight AC, cant remember name).

lordsmarch plaza chain has some randomly generated loot in the end reward list that has a shockingly low ML too.. i've found heavy fort ml5 stuff in there before for example so that might be worth farming.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

Roll up a Vet status monk on a different toon, grab the Black Widow Bracers, put them in your shared bank, then delete the toon.

Proceed to use until Scorched at L5.

Low ML Impact handwraps are solid. I have a pair of +5 Impact handwraps waiting for my monk when he does his final life (as a 36-point monk) that are RR of his race, so they're the same ML as non-RR normal +5 wraps.

Collecting a bunch of solid handwraps is key. Have +2, +3, +4, +5 plain wraps available (or + of X at the same ML as normal +, but in RR your race version) or have RR versions of these. Also grab solid effect handwraps; I have +1 shocking burst of maiming for the monk's TR that I may end up putting Icy Burst on. ML 6, and that's 5 effects on crit, which should just kill anything at that level.

for low level id want a nice set of beaters. Mine has some shock of pure good that I icy bursted last ice games. Lv 6. If you have good beaters everything up to lv 10 is cake. Of course you'll also want all your other wraps from smiting, stun 10's and whatnot.

As far as gear id go 3 peice abashi, but for bracers id go jidz tetka. The 3 peice abashi is gonna give you +1 to ac and str, and the jidz will give you a +5 to ac where the scorched would give you 4.

The greater nimble trinket from cove will give you a +1 to dodge as well as blur and +1 to atk. (winwin)

And chimera's crown (lv 5 same as jidz) gives a natural armor bonus of 1. Now im not sure but it should stack as the other bonus is a set bonus from abashi, and I think on the head it would be enchantment.

That's about all I can think of low level. Throw some plus 2 tomes in there, or plus one and work em with action point enhancements and ur set.

Depending on what race you choose you could also get more through action points as well.

Dodge 2 crafted trinket, Siren's set from Fens if you can fit it in, +5 crafted protection ring/necky till you get a min2 accessory (best choice if you care about AC), base Jidz, Madstone boots (+4 natural AC assuming you're not going to need light finishers), Shield clickies...

Siren Set....ok, I have the belt lol.

I'll work on a Min2 something or other I suppose.

As far as the clickies, how to get UMD that high on a monk...unless I figure out how to get Wizzy Dilly....:P

Just as a heads up, I DO have a monk (Horcrux-based wisdom stunning build), but He's not geared or set up for AC at ALL. But he does have some pretty awesome beaters. I think I'll have to pull the LGS wraps off of him for the +4 to-hit

I get it for the low level stuff, how about some of the better raid gear? What do I need to KEEP a good AC before I hit 20?

Oh I just used 1 minute clickies for boss fights and places with loads of incoming magic missiles lol. Takes up a lot of inv space but most fights are over in under 60 secs anyway.

Well that depends really, for example 50-55 works in normal Vale, but gets torn to shreds in most of elite Lordsmarch.

One thing I didn't see noted to get are the popular Incredible Potential rings from the Tower of Despair. For unarmed fighters only, you can imbue them with Burst effects (Shocking or Holy are popular) that stack with your handwraps and any damage you create from/through them. Any of the rings from these sets can be imbued; you needn't wait for the Monk-specific rings (although if you can get them, please do use them). You'll need 9 successful runs through ToD to get the War Trophies ingredients, then you need to run the Shroud and get ingredients to create a double-imbued Shard of Great Power to complete the unlock. It's actually easy to do the crafting--it's getting through 9 ToDs that's time-consuming as it is, of course, a raid. These rings make good additions since Green Steel handwraps are not possible.

this is stuff i planned for myself:

icys with alchemical rit on them
    wis +4/+6 helm
    dex +4/+6 boots
    str +4/+6 gloves
    +2/+4 attack bonus goggles
challenge bracers ml 4 and ml 12 (black widow bracers or jidz tetka till you get sirens set)
    siren's set (neck + belt)
    mantle of the worldhsaper
    dodge +2 trinket
    ring of med fort/heavy fort
    ring of protection +3/+4/+5

    most stuff is cannith crafted.

use barskin pots and shield clickies and you should be fine.

I'm well aware of the tod rings. I have a monk, but not an ac build (he's built to stun in epics, where ac is still next to useless.)

I have everything (almost) I want or need for my dps gear. It's mostly the ac gear portion I'm having issues with.

Other than a min2 item, what do I need as far as raid gear is concerned?

well, you don't really need minII item, but it can save you some slots.

upgraded head of good fortune is nice. it has dodge +2 and heavy fort. it could save you a ring slot, so you could wear chattering ring.

if you don't mind fighting with kamas, you could craft a GS kama with +4 insight bonus, and drop sirens set. that would make you untouchable even in end content.

There's sacrificing some DPS for AC/versatility, and then there's using kamas instead of wraps. God kills a kitten and all that

My final build will be Khopesh, so I might make a Min2 with Insight 4 and a Min2 HP item (Probably Goggles) when I tank.

HoGF clashes with eMany Facets, and I know I can Dodge +2 elsewhere (I believe).

If willing to spend some turbine points (or if you got a few extra sets when they were on sale for 5 tp), a Bunny Hat helps to save a slot for +3 competence to UMD (same as Cartouche or Persuasion item) - perhaps notable due to the amount of slots you might want for AC boosting stuff.

I would stress UMD and the ability to use Shield wands in particular (along with Fireshield/Stoneskin), as having the spell active also helps prevent Grazing hits, which will still get through your AC otherwise.

I would also strongly recommend going for a Lawful Neutral alignment, although Devotion are neat (and perhaps the best handwraps for twinking a level 1 character with), randomly generated handwraps with Pure Good do not have an alignment restriction on them.

I have one somewhere, so thanks for the reminder.

I also have the +2 Flaming Burst wraps out of Threnal, so I'll probably use those since I have yet to pull a set of Devotion wraps... I also have some +1 Shock/PG or Bleed with Icy Burst on them. I've been planning my monk lives for a while, so I stocked up on wraps and ran a monk up to 20 to prepare

was thinking on the part where you mentioned epic gem of many facets. while lvling, eGoMF doesn't clash with HoGF.
