    Default Cannot Dismiss Pet

The context menu with options for Dismiss Pet and View Pet Char Sheet does not work for me. It worked on Lammania and on live just after Arti release. It stopped working around the release of the first post-Arti patch. The menu displays but the options do nothing when clicked.

There are points in some quests where the whole party must be within a given area to proceed with the quest line. When my pet decides to become unresponsive (refusing to zone is a common hireling problem), this essentially creates a quest wipe. Please Turbine, fix this or give me a button like the summon pet.

    1. Is anyone else having this issue?

    2. Do your pets become more and more troublesome the longer they are summoned? Do they hesitate more and more, then stop doing what they are told altogether?

    3. Will Update 13 be the last (Signs of doom and gloom and hints from Turbine abound)?

    Thanks for reading.

    (P.S. - I paid for this - Yay Me)

    Default I can dismiss mine

I play 2 artificers one level 17 and one level 20 and I can dismiss my pet. Two ways right clicking on its pic in its toolbar and by right clicking on its red health bar. Both gives me the choice to view or dismiss, and both work for me. I played my level 20 today and it worked fine 12-29. you might want to put in a bug report.

    Bug report?? What's that?

I submitted first report 2 months ago. Ran into a quest fail due to issue and re-bugged it 2 days ago. Since I was apparently not clear enough, I Have the menu with the option to Dismiss Pet. Clicking Dismiss Pet does nothing.

    To reproduce:
    1. Summon Pet
    2. Click on Dismiss Pet
    3. Stare at my horribly disobedient pet.

This is bizarre. What OS and video chip do you have? The timeline sounds like it was the same patch that broke voice comms for people using 64bit Windows 7 and headsets that use audio jacks. That's about the time my headset quit working with the in-game voice comms, but continues to work in everything else.

Usually this means the dog was stand-grounding in a previous area and you didn't realise it (and therefore tell the dog to come to you) for more than 5 minutes.

If there are other ways to trigger this I'm unaware of them, but would love to be enlightened.

Logging out then back in will prevent a quest wipe at the least.

The having to log out thing is annoying.

Quite often I can also not dismiss my pet... i have (in my mind) associated this with taking too long to do a quest / having it too long in the same active area.

Classic example is Relic of a Sovereign Past.

Soloing with my arti and his dog.
Takes me a while to hunt down every speck of adamantine etc... the dog is never on "stand still". I am never more than 2mins idle.

I clear the summoner room and then the barracks down to the key and then start hunting ore. At some point through hunting the ore, my dog will start following me around, but refuse to attack anyone, refuse to interact with levers and shrines, and refuse to do anything i tell it. It just follows.

Then at some point (usually between clearing the barracks and clearing the temple area) it just gives up and stands still. Letting it die, and repairing it does not solve this problem. It cannot be dismissed. I have to relog.

So far this has happened every time I have run this quest. Now I dont do it with dog anymore. I've never had this particular problem with shorter quests... (unless i left the dog on standstill in the previous area...)

Oh, I think I'm talking about a separate bug then.

The following around and intensely staring at enemies, but not attacking is, according to a thread elsewhere, due to something about ladders and/or being tripped.

I didn't realise that it also couldn't be dismissed or otherwise fixed when that happened. That is unfortunate.

EDIT: I'll bet he bugs out somewhere in the summoner room due to ladder issues, but if I'm wrong... well yay for at least disproving that as being the only way. I think the dwarves also trip. Sounds like a bad quest for dogs.

Ill see if not letting him climb ladders has any effects there.... about the tripping i cant do anything! :/

EDIT: Keeping dog away from ladders at all costs... no problems.
cant say if he was tripped or not... but no reason why the fighting should have been any different this time.
So note to self: don't let dog climb ladders!!

Yeah, I avoid ladders as much as I can (park the dog, get far enough from ladders that he teleports to get to me,) and if I see he's "gone Quaker" on me and won't attack, I immediately dismiss him, wait a minute, then resummon. That *usually* fixes him. I've never kept him around after he gets the pacifist bug, so haven't run into being unable to dismiss him.

Running XP with an Nvidia gf106.

BTW - You are mistaken about your voice comm problem. Patches only fix things, they don't break things.

    You are an optimist.

I get this often enough, but I can't give any idea on how to reproduce it. I've had mine refuse to dismiss, after summoning him in the marketplace to set up his hot bar slot, then immediately trying to dismiss him. I've had him go pacifist in quests with no ladders whatsoever, like Delera's pt2, and continue to fight in STK (which has more ladders than floors).

    There's a reason I don't play my arty much.

I always wondered how they survived my airship ladder! Nice find.
