Default The dreaded battle cleric (17/2/1)

talk me out of this, i'm seriously considering this for my 7th life. I don't plan on staying at 20 for more than a day or so so I don't care about end game at all with this build, just something to power through a life.

Cliffs, TWF WF Khopesh 17cleric 2 monk 1 fighter self healing melee w/ radiant servant. Melee my way to 20 then move on to something else.

In this I see lots of HPs, plenty of SPs, spells might suck and I might have a tough time hitting high level stuff, but otherwise I see potential, at least temporarily. IF THF is vastly superior here, i do have some GS THF weapons, just felt like 2wf this next life. Tired of the whole repeater action on my arty.

If you're just going to level it up and TR, then forget the monk completely. Start with 1 fighter (for martial proficiencies) and go with Cleric for the remaining 17 levels. What you take at levels 19+20 doesn't really matter if you're going to TR immediately.

    1. Evasion just doesn't matter while TRing, especially if you're doing elite streaks. Your reflex won't be high enough to matter.
    2. The 1/17 split allow you to have Holy Smite at 8th level, Blade Barrier at 12th level and Implosion at 18th level. I wouldn't want to wait any longer for those spells.

As someone who has done three Favored Soul past lives and agonized with the approach like you have with your Cleric, I ultimately opted for the WIS focused char to level. Once you get Blade Barrier, you'll blaze through quests at run speed. It's so much faster than swinging a weapon.

Swap out Metal Toughness for Maximize. Take Maximize by level nine so u have it for Divine Punishment, and later for Blade Barrier. These spells really amp you damage output with your melee. You might want to take Maximize earlier to boost your radiant bursts by level 6 for free, but it is too expensive for any other spell low level.

Ability raise STR only I think.

Take the Cleric Smiting 1-4 for Divine Punishment. Any extra for Life the magic 4. then 1 or 2 tiers of scroll/wand mastery.

Cleric critical healing is a waste on a battle cleric and only good for nanybots that overheal. Other ones to drop are just not worth the cost in enhancement points for the small gains. You plan on melee and doing damage, so buff up your smiting DP, and blade barrier. Get Superior Ardor for healing spells 75% and Superior Brilliance for DP 75% items. 50% Potency item for BB. These items are far better than the enhancements u selected that need to be dropped.

I'd recommend getting martial weapon proficiency, through half-elf fighter dill.
Or just take the weapon you want with a human bonus feat.
Your aura will thank you for not going WF.

You don't need to gimp your aura for decent melee.
Do it right and you will very rarely ever stop to heal yourself.
Human and half-elves can boost their healing amp as well as primary stats.

I'd go on about the importance of offensive casting to support melee...
But you seem to have your build mostly thought out, and have it as you want it.

Somewhere is a Bard build that I posted which uses a Half=Elf/Pally dilly to offset the dumped DEX. The concept works here as well; combined with a +10 reflex upgraded Parasitic Breastplate out of Harbringer will push the reflex saves into a high enough level to make it worthwhile. Of course, you have to wait until 14 to use that. And it makes the build more MAD; you need at least 11 CHA and a +2 tome (plus a feat swap) to access it.

I'd consider dumping the TWF at least. THF is simpler and has fewer stat requirements. PA is less of a penalty, as you're not also tacking on TWF penalties. Even with OTWF, that's still -7 to-hit. And it costs you an additional feat. I'd drop PA TBH if going TWF on a Cleric. +5 damage becomes worthless if you can't hit.

With the 2 Monk, you may instead consider handwraps. Saves another feat. You can now ditch the Fighter level.

Blade Barrier is still a potent weapon with a WIS dumped build. I leveled my Helf FvS quite easily using it, and only 8 WIS. You just melee down evasion critters, though TBH I found them ignoring my max-WIS Cleric's BB just as readily.

WF + Radiant Aura don't mesh well. You want healing amp, and only Humans and Half-Elves get that without gear. WF have a penalty; you'll be spending 12ap just to get 75%. The other WF benefits are minor, you can easily slot Disease Immunity, Underwater Action, and Poison Immunity, or just drink a pot when needed. That leaves immunity to Hold Person and Energy Drain, which is minor enough to be vastly offset by the lost Hamp. Hold Person in particular is worthless, since you'll get Freedom of Movement.

The level spread is also horrible. You won't be a Cleric at all until 4, and that means you won't have Blade Barrier or Heal until 15, Aura until 16. I can't hardly justify taking 3 non-Cleric levels, 2 Monk is fine since it adds much more than the loss, but losing that much time with BB on the high end for the negligible benefit of evasion and an extra, probably unnecessary feat at low levels just makes no sense at all.

Hi I am currently levelling a similar 18/2 build myself. I mostly did it for something different but found it very
fun to play because many players have low expectations from an odd buildlike this. I took maximize early myself and held the second fighter level until 16 and took power attack then. I was really missing power attack past lev 10, but cursespewers and paralyzers helped. For me I know this will never be an end game toon but it is a lot of fun in the vale and inspired quarter. Myddo mine, Granitetron on khyber

Also found the sora kell set, heroism pots and divine favor, power helped with the to hit issues.

    Oh man that is +1.

The only thing to put off DP and BB for is evasion. For Fighter levels take only one level early. If 2 ftr levels take the other after you get BB. For Human take the one FTR lvl at level 2. So go Cleric first level and take toughness and extra human feat under Cleric line.

I think for any Cleric with 16+ levels Toughness, empower healing, Maximize, and empower are a must have to buff heals, DP, and BB. Even if your BB is saved against Max and empower are nice on it. Helps your Bursts too. If you want to hold off on empower and take a melee feat after power attack that is ok, but once u get BB take empower for it. Atleast take Maximize with Radiant Burst, so they are more useful.

As for power attack take it early. Especially if u take the THF advice. It sets your melee par with any pug build until high levels since u r on here. There are enhancement like human versatility that off set the -5 to hit, and a cheap +3 bonus to hit.

You will level fast this way. Waiting on the Cleric levels may prevent invites if it is not for monk evasion. U can get away with 1 FTR level. Rog looks like more of a solo build.

Funny thing, I've found that with the Tactics enhancements a Warforged battlecleric with mediocre Wisdom can maintain fantastic Stunning Fist DCs. Pelorforged at 14 has a Stunning Fist DC of 36, about 10 higher than most of his spells...and often a bit higher than Monks and even the Unarmed Kensais at level (that'll level out at cap though with the Kensais pulling ahead)

Unfortunately even with a 36 point build I don't see a way of fitting in Divine Might as well though.

Bladesworn Transformation is fun as well, situationally Note that Divine Healing (turn-related enhancement) and an already-activated Aura are about the only Clerical means of healing party members if you are in Bladesworn Transformation.

Take Maximize and Empower meta magic feat. Both. Its so you can nuke. If you are no good at nuke then you could just roll a Bard. Cool part of Cleric is that you can nuke. Cleric that can't nuke (or instakill) is like a Bard that can't sing.

Quicken would also be a very good idea.

Drop Khopesh, Oversized or Mental Toughness if you have to. Use Scimitar or Kukri (offhand). May not be as good a 'pesh, but is not that far behind.

I have this type of build. Human, Cleric17/Monk2/Fighter1, dual weapon. It works, its good. But do *not* neglect casting. Can't have high spell DC (need solid DEX/STR), but at least have a solid nuke.

Are you absolutly stuck on being a warforged from your previous lives?

Because if not, think about 1/2 elf with fighter dilly. The ability to use all melee (not missile) weapons is reappy pretty freekin good.

I think you cannot survive in raid and epic content without quicken... You can drop oversized twf for it. I have +44 to hit with pa on on my battlecleric and i never miss... I just turn pa off for some red named in epics.
Also consider to be cha based instead of wis based: divine might 3 is +6 damage with each hand.
I'll post soon my battlecleric build (18cleric/2fighter) but i can anticipate he has +44 to hit and 2d6+40/2d6+34 to damage right now and he's not full geared yet, with 22 turn undead x rest 1500 sp are more than enought... I've healed shroud, tod and echrono and my kills were comparable to the kills of the top dps (2 vorpal +6 scimitars from the cove event help here
Also you can skip mental thoughness for extended so you dont have to re-cast recitation, pa and divine favor every 2 minuts.

A lot to think about here. I think if you go battle cleric the best thing is to decide between fighter (THF) or monk (TWF handwraps). Trying to fit khopesh and all the other stuff is stretching your build too thin especially for leveling purposes.

I love the clonk approach for easy leveling. Wisdom based with stunning fist is phenomenal for those situations in which spells or radiant servant bursts aren't appropriate. Monk also gives you AC which you can use to make anything pre level 20 easy with enough gear (even with minimal gear it will make the trip to blade barrier easy).

The real trick with a cleric is to have a cushy ride to blade barrier. For this I'd suggest just 1 level of monk and 14 base charisma. This way with maximise, empower and empower healing at level 7 you'll blast through any undead with radiant servant bursts and before this level you can turn quite effectively with eagles splendour/seek eternal rest/sacred item (turn is even useful after you get burst for more spread out, low HD foes like arcane skeletons).

With stunning fist and rogue dilettante for single foes and a solid amount of bursts for healing you'll be saving most of your SP for offensive casting which is really going to enable the zerg.

Later on the charisma adds quite nicely to DPS with DMII or even III when appropriate.

You are going very far out of your way to avoid playing a caster. wouldn't a 6barb/6fighter/8cleric or similar build fit your playstyle better? It's a cleric past life either way

Stalwart Defender I, FB, THF'ing/Sword and Board Cleric. Maybe look at a 12 cleric (radiant servant II), 6 fighter (stalwart defender I), 2 monk build (for extra feats/evasion). Barbarian Rage is pretty detrimental to a the cleric levels when you want to self heal.
