Nice! I hadn't thought of that.
Makes sense though, if you can't get them to a Rez shrine within 9 to 10 min (at CL18-20) then you're in a really bad place.
Have the spell not apply item damage for the second death if by lapse of time.

I'm not sure about the HP part though.
I'm partial towards giving the target 60-75% full HP upon acceptance of the dark pact.
It wouldn't be horribly grotesque inflated HP plus Undead traits to boot, but enough to carry through for the time being.
How about the name "Spawn of Darkness"... Maybe?

Should probably be a 9th level spell like True Resurrection.

Sounds kind of fun and not too overpowered with a duration and limiting HP to caster level.
    Very nice idea, +1

I'd like to amend this this just a little though, to solve the hp problem you mentioned.

DISCLAIMER: The information i have here i was told in game by a friend, i have never played my self, and this may be the is wrong ruleset or wrong setting or something else, but here goes...

As I understand it, in pnp, when someone chooses to become a lich, one of the significant changes was that, like undead, their CON dropped to zero. From there, they change their hp die to a 1d12.

If that was how the hp was to work, i think it would be a nice way of balancing out some of the boosts someone might gain from taking on this form

    Yes, that sounds about right.
Most Lich's going from Wizard would need one helluva Con bonus to make the jump from d4s to d12s seem miniscule in comparison.

Form of the Lich would give resounding bonuses in HP to the lowly Wizard, but would only turn Barbarian HP down as if they had no Con bonuses.
Nil Con gives neither bonus nor penalty, but 1 Con is a severe penalty.

I would still be okay with this, as at Character level 20, it would mean you had base 240HP not counting Toughness (Feat/Enhancement/Items) nor other ways of improving HP through non-traditional (Con) means.
