Hey guys,
I made this level 4 (veteran status) WF Wizard and am loving him so far.
I want him to be a very damage oriented caster, with only minimal CC spells and a moderate range of useful buffs. For CC, I think I am going to stick almost exclusively to web as it allows me to ignore spell penetration feats, items, and enhancements.
I will be going all the way up Archmage for extra DCs and Spellpoints, and secondary in Conjuration. I only plan on taking Grease, Web, and Magic Missiles as spell like abilities. The rest of the evocation spell-likes simply didn't seem worth the spell points and AP to me. Would you all agree? This will give me a reliable CC move (web + heighten + quicken for 3 SP) and a reliable cheap damage move if I need to be conservative (Magic Missile + Empower + Maximize + Quicken for 1 SP).
For buffs, I want the usual range of useful ones like Detect Secret Doors, Jump, Haste, Blur ect., but will probably only carry the essentials like those to make room for a broader range of damage spells.
For damage, I really would like have this guy mix and use all the different elements. I like the idea of a broad range of spells to choose from, and want to exploit any weakness enemies have. For instance, switching between Fort based saves or Reflex based saves depending on the target (tough but slow barbarian, or quick but weak rogue). I want to exploit vulnerabilities like using Fire on Ice Reavers, or Disintegrate on Clay Golems and Oozes. Because of this I plan to diversify my enhancements to damage spells and am thinking I will ignore Crit completely to save gear slots and AP. Doing this I should still be able to maintain solid, steady damage, but lack the min/max dps and burst potential of crits.
All this being said, I was wondering if anyone could make a rough character idea based on this to see how it compares to what I did. He should be Warforged pure Wizard and an Archmage, other than that I'de love to see and compare your versions to what I have made and plan to do. Thanks!
