Default BSOD physical memory dump windows 7

it has been happening for the last few days now, since update 12 patch 2. it started the night it came out. i can play for an hour or 2 sometimes but it WILL happen. its simply a BSOD saying the computer is dumping physical memory. ive checked the memory and it says i have free memory of about 700mb and standbye memory of about 2.5k mb and used of about 2.5k mb when this happens. and DDO is using about 925,000 KB in the task manager. so my question is what the hell is going on? why have i suddenly started to get lag and BSOD in the last few days only. and ive been running it for a month on the highes graphics with NO issues whatsoever. no lag period.nothing. my computer is a pavilion HP with 6GB and a coolsense temp control, plus the fan IS working and the computer hardly ever gets hot to the touch.its also a laptop not sure if thats an issue. is it a windows 7 thing? or a new DDO issue with the patch? ive sent in a ticket and still waiting to see if they know whats wrong but i wanted to ask the other players.

You'd have to look at the error code/event log to see what was going on - a BSOD just means there was an unrecoverable error, could be anything.

i dont know how to find those im not super computer literate. but the problem is the physical memory as the title says, since its a physical memory dump on the blue screen that is happening. or at least i would assume thats the issue. and since it doesnt happen but with DDO id think the game is the issue

The problem isn't the physical memory. A "physical memory dump" means your computer had a hardware or software error that it couldnt recover from, and dumped all of the info from the RAM (physical memory) onto your hard drive.

Could you post your DXDiag report? That might provide some useful info for locating and fixing the problem.

Until you can provide more info, I can only guess that perhaps the patch introduced a slight registry error. A slight possibility is that perhaps the patch introduced some file fragmentation that's playing tricks on your computer. A program like ccleaner could scan for and fix registry errors, and a program like defraggler could defrag the files. Both can be found for free from this publisher:
    http://www.piriform.com/

Having a laptop shouldn't be an issue. I play DDO on one all the time and never crash. I did have to turn off anisotropic filtering or anti-aliasing in the DDO graphics options in order to prevent zone-in freezes/crashes when I first started playing DDO, though.

Easiest thing to do is when you get that blue screen, take a good picture of it so I can actually read all the words on the screen in that Blue Screen of Death. All those cryptic words and numbers and codes and such actually give quite a bit of information to a technician about where the error is coming from and what might be causing it.

Post that photo and I'll give you some ideas about what might fix your issue.

Other than that, all we can really tell you is defrag your hard drive and clean your registry as the poster above me stated. Also make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card from the manufacturer of either the Laptop or the video card. The last "general" troubleshooting tip to try to get rid of unspecified blue screen errors is to do a clean reinstall of the offending program if it's only one program causing the error. I'd save that as a last resort though since DDO takes so long to load/download.

Best thing is to post that picture of the blue screen for us.

i took a picture but i dont know how to post. until someone can explain that ill put down teh only line of code looking numbers on the blue screen

    ***STOP: 0x0000001A (0x0000000000041284,0x000000000A07E001,0x000000000 00001c5,0xFFFFF70001080000

hope that helps somehow? everything else is just telling me its dumping and to try adn fix it if it has done this before.

According to that code, you likely have either a registry error, insufficient power to your system, a defective memory module, overheating, or a virus. Here are the exact steps I recommend that you follow:

    1. Update your antivirus program to the newest virus definitions and run a full system scan.

    2. Download and install Ccleaner for free and run the disk cleanup and the registry scanner to fix registry errors:
    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

    3. Download and install Defraggler for free and run a full defrag of your hard drive:
    http://www.piriform.com/defraggler

    4. Go into your laptop power settings and make sure that you're on Maximum Performance (no power saving!) whenever you play DDO, and use a wall outlet for power (don't use battery power).

    5. I would wager that at this point, DDO will be running perfectly for you. If not, you'll want to use a free utility to scan your RAM for defective modules, and also run some temperature monitoring software while running DDO to see if your system devices are getting too hot.

    Hardware monitoring utility:

I would still like to see your DXDiag report, as that can tell us if you have outdated drivers or similar issues. This can tell you how to gather that information:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...iagnostic-Tool
Copy and paste the information from your DXDiag report into the forum.

    two tips.

First to put something in a box on the forums type the word [CODE]. Put that at the front of your text, and /code in brackets at the end to build it a box to live in. I cant actually type that out for you exactly how it will appear, or it will make an empty box, lol.

Second, though it may not be the source of your problems, your video drivers are a year old. I would check to see if there is a newer version.

    Code:
    Driver Version: 8.15.10.2291
            DDI Version: 10.1
           Driver Model: WDDM 1.1
      Driver Attributes: Final Retail
       Driver Date/Size: 1/27/2011 08:57:14, 7470080 bytes

The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

Sorry for posting in an older topic, but I felt this might help anyone else in the future with this issue, the part I quoted is the main reason, there is an issue with the DV6 series and overheating and the system not cooling right.

Here is some things I have done to fix this issue on my DV6.

    1. Throttle Max CPU Load to 75%
    2. Get a quality chill mat, I use a Targus HD3 Gaming Chill Mat.
    3. Run Virus Scans often, I like to run Malwarebytes in safemode
    4. Limit your gaming time, play for a while take a break let system cool down, I have two power options setup for this, 75% max CPU while gaming, then I either will switch to 50% max CPU, or I will just turn off my computer.
    5. Limit the amount of Memory being used by the computer, MSCONFIG and uncheck anything that isn't required
    6. Lower the Graphics settings in your games.
    7. Use an external Display and turn off the laptop screen...I have noticed I don't BSoD if I am using HDMI and playing the game on my HDTV with my laptop display off.
